Ps.147:7 “Sing out your thanks to him; sing praises to our God.” (LB, emphasis added). We are to sing out our thanks to God. You cannot be singing, ‘God, You are the greatest! The joy that overflows, is a component of the fruit of the Holy Spirit. I was reading the work of a renowned theologian Thomas Aquinas, and he said something very profound. He says, “God is happiness by His Essence: for He is happy not by acquisition or participation of something else, but by His Essence. Isa.61:3 “To all who mourn in Zion, he will give a crown of beauty for ashes, oil of joy instead of mourning, a garment of praise instead of the spirit of heaviness. They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the Lord for the display of his splendor.” (NLT & NIV]
God is trading His beauty for our ashes and He is doing it in every area. We are going from barrenness to Fruitfulness, from sorrow to Joy, from bondage to Freedom, from loss to Recovery, from death to Life, from poverty to Wealth, and from shame to Honour. Read the rest of this entry
