Posture

Ps.95:6 “Come, let us worship and bow down. Let us kneel before the Lord our maker”

Unfortunately, some people are still arguing if Christians should celebrate Christmas. People are still saying perhaps it has an occultic background or that the early church did not celebrate Christmas. There are all sorts of arguments out there. However, it is just like the case of the blind man that Jesus healed to whom the Pharisees were saying Jesus is a sinner. He, just like a little boy, gave glory to God and said, “Whether He be a sinner or not, I do not know. One thing I know, whereas I was blind and now I can see.” How does that apply to us? For me, one thing I know is I love Christmas. I feel the joy of God, I feel God’s presence, and above all people come to celebrate Jesus.

Jesus is worthy of celebration. From the time of His birth, Jesus was celebrated. From the time He was conceived, He was celebrated. God did not hide the fact that He wants Jesus celebrated. When Jesus was born, some wise men came from the east to celebrate Jesus. Upon arriving Jerusalem, they lost sight of the star and there was confusion. They went to Herod the king and Herod said, when you find the baby come and tell me, so that I can worship Him also. But Herod actually wanted to kill the baby.

Matt.2:9After this interview the wise men went their way. And the star they had seen in the east guided them to Bethlehem. It went ahead of them and stopped over the place where the child was. 10 When they saw the star, they were filled with joy! 11 They entered the house and saw the child with his mother, Mary, and they bowed down and worshiped him. Then they opened their treasure chests and gave him gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh” [with emphasis]. Christmas is for giving. The first thing the wise men did when they found Jesus, was to give their worship – they bowed and worshipped.

The significance of that is posture in worship is crucial to heaven. In the place of worship, the position you take, not only in your heart but in your physical body, is a big deal to God. Some people claim to be worshipping but they are sitting down with legs crossed and scrolling through their phones. Some people claim that not everyone with hands lifted and heads bowed are legit, that some are hypocrites. My advice is – you be the legitimate worshipper not the hypocrite. The wise men bowed before a baby, laying aside their prestige, their own greatness.

Prayer [song]: I will come and bow down at Your feet Lord Jesus, in Your presence is fullness of joy. There is nothing, there is no one who compares to You, I take pleasure in worshipping…, Amen!
