Mark 1:³⁵ “Before daybreak the next morning, Jesus got up and went out to an isolated place to pray.” (emphasis added).

Before daybreak Jesus got up and went out to an isolated place, not to sleep, not to worry, not to update His social media status or refresh His feed, or to send an instant message. Jesus went out to pray! Today’s devotional is going to take on a slightly different format. We are going to spend focused time digging into God’s Word as we zero in on the prayers Jesus prayed. You can learn so much about people from their prayer points.

Assignment 1: Read Matt. 6:26-29 and John 17:15-21; write down what this scripture reference tells you about Jesus and about His heart in the spaces below. Secondly, write down how this new insight about Jesus can modify your behaviour.

Assignment 2: How Jesus taught us to pray. Matt.6:5-15 (KJV) gives us the model prayer. Read this portion of scripture and write down what it tells you about how Jesus teaches and expects you to pray. He says when you pray, pray like this; meaning follow this model and not necessarily recite this prayer. Read Luke 18:1-8 and write down the attitude Jesus wants us to have in prayer.
