Come Back

Eph. 1:20 (TLB) “God’s great power is available to help us who believe Him. It is the same mighty power that raised Christ.” (emphasis added)

A lot of the time, because the major things in our lives are outside our control, we tend to struggle with the concept of God being in control. We do not get to choose things like our gifts (talent, ability). So, there is no point in being upset or resentful about other people’s gifts. If you cannot run, you  cannot run. If you cannot sing, you cannot sing. Stop insisting on joining the choir. The same way you did not choose your talent, you did not choose your stature or height. However, you can choose to be healthy and if you are not, you can choose to do something about it.

One of the major sources of stress is trying to control the uncontrollable, worrying about things that you cannot change. You can neither have more than twenty-four hours in a day nor can you slow time down, accept it! The economy is not under your control, even if you are the minister of finance. Even when you will die is outside your control. Why do we worry when God is in control? The last time I checked, God has not relinquished control to anyone! You do not even have control over who likes or dislikes you? So, why worry about it or even become sad about it? It is outside of your control. They dislike you, big deal, Jesus loves you. I honestly never worry myself about who likes or dislikes me. I do not want to die young. Some people will actually attempt to torture you with their affection or lack of affection if they discover that it bothers you. You cannot force certain things on people, stop worrying about things you cannot change.

You cannot change people. Do not kill yourself, you cannot change your spouse. Accept it! The only person that can change him or her is God. To be emotionally stable, you must accept and settle it, that God is in control. In fact, the first step to spiritual maturity is realizing that God is in control. All our responses in life and to a crisis are based on our understanding that God is in control or not. Most times, we waste our time on the things we cannot change and leave the only thing we can change unattended. The only thing you can control is your response to things. You can’t determine who likes or dislikes you, but you can change your response. Whether you will be happy or sad is up to you. Are you experiencing pressure at work, or pressure at home, or economic pressure? God is in control. “God’s great power is available to help us who believe Him. It is the same mighty power that raised Christ.” Take this scripture and cuddle it!

Prayer (hymn): All to Jesus I surrender, make me Saviour wholly thine. May Thy Holy Spirit fill me, may I know Thy power divine. I surrender all (2x), all to Thee by blessed Savour… Amen!
