Christ Alone

John 5:36 (NCV) “But I have a proof about myself that is greater than that of John. The things I do, which are the things my Father gave me to do, prove that the Father sent me.

We start today’s devotion with a question every believer must answer for himself or herself. Why do you believe that Jesus resurrected, and He is alive? I can give you loads and loads of reasons. Firstly, today is the tenth day of the month of April in the year two thousand and twenty, right? The year two thousand and twenty from what? What you are actually saying is two thousand and twenty years after the resurrection of Jesus Christ. That is the statement you are making; whether you are Christian, Muslim, atheist, or agnostic, or even anti Christ. Imagine someone writing a cheque but insists on not writing the date because he or she does not want to acknowledge that Jesus is the centre of it all. That cheque would be invalid. Every time an atheist writes the date, he is saying – Jesus at the centre of it all. Jesus at the centre of it all. From beginning to the end, it will always be, it’s always been You Jesus! (Song).

Jesus is at the centre and there is nothing anybody can do about it. It is too late. The second reason, Jesus is alive in me. Jesus is alive and well, I spoke to Him this morning. I speak to Him about you consistently. And guess what? Jesus speaks back. I have seen several kinds of amazing miracles that prove beyond any doubt that Jesus is alive. Thirdly, if you look at the Bible, all the prophecies that were said hundreds of years before Jesus came, all of them converge on just one person. Every single prophecy about the Messiah, the Saviour of the world was fulfilled in one man and His Name is Jesus.

The fourth thing is, the fact that no one made the claims that Jesus made, no one! There is no one who has ever lived that has said the things that Jesus said except the person is crazy. John 7:37-38On the last day, the climax of the festival, Jesus stood and shouted to the crowds, “Anyone who is thirsty may come to me! Anyone who believes in me may come and drink! For the Scriptures declare, ‘Rivers of living water will flow from his heart.’” This was at the peak of the festival, after the priest poured the water he fetched at Siloam. Jesus was addressing the entire crowd, even people old enough to be his father. It is risky to do such a thing with Jews; they can stone the person to death. The audacity with which Jesus made His claim caused even the Jews to conclude that He is either the Messiah or He is completely crazy. We say He is the Messiah!

Prayer (song): Jesus is Alpha, Alpha and Omega. So I’ll praise Him for He is Alpha, Alpha and Omega. Amen!
