Admit

Eph.2:1-2 (Voice) “As for you, don’t you remember how you used to just exist? Corpses, dead in life, buried by transgressions, wandering the course of this perverse world. You were the offspring of the prince of the power of air—oh, how he owned you…”

The advertising and marketing world understand the power of people’s testimonials, the ‘Before and After’. One of the articles I was reading stated that some of these diet pill marketers take the pictures of pregnant women who are not yet showing but have enough fat on their body to do the trick. Then put it side by side the picture of the same woman after she has given birth as their ‘Before and After’ statement. These people do a lot of lying but guess what? God’s own is legit. Like the blind man that Jesus healed in John 9:24-25 (KJV) “Then again called they the man that was blind, and said unto him, Give God the praise: we know that this man is a sinner. 25 He answered and said, Whether he be a sinner or no, I know not: one thing I know, that, whereas I was blind, now I see.” (emphasis added).

You cannot argue with that! Their argument of who to give glory to and about knowing Jesus’ family history did not hold water with the man that was healed. “He answered and said, Whether he be a sinner or no, I know not: one thing I know, that, whereas I was blind, now I see“. It is very similar to our faith; unless we clearly see who we were, we will not fully appreciate who Christ has made us to be. Unless you fully see who you were, the reality of the new life is not going to be tangible. Unless you are able to say, “the things I used to do, the life I used to live, no more! That is who I was, but now this is who I am.”

Eph.2:1 (NRSV) “You were dead through the trespasses and sins.” (emphasis added). The word God chose to use in scripture is dead. It was not that you were bad; we are not bad people that God is trying to make into good people. No! We were dead and God has made us alive in Christ. Paul was saying to the Ephesian church, you were dead, this is who you were, you need to know. This is the difference between; being a Christian and having a relationship with Christ. Or being a Christian, having a title and just being religious.

Religious people go to church, they have an accent of God. But the people that have a relationship with God know that they were dead and now they are alive. The old Femi is dead, the new one is alive. Paul says in Galatians, “reckon yourself as dead”. Admit it that you are dead in sin; if you do not, you will not walk in the reality of new life in Christ. That is how it is!

Prayer: Father, I thank You for saving me and giving me new life in Christ, in Jesus Name. Amen!
