His Sound I

Gen.1:1-3 “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was formless and empty, and darkness covered the deep waters. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the surface of the waters. Then God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light.”

Yesterday, we shared the first of two things you need to know about the Holy Spirit. And that is that the Holy Spirit is a person. Did you talk to the Holy Spirit like we said? What questions did you ask Him and what was His response?

Years ago, I was having a chat with one of the ladies I was disciplining. We were talking about the supernatural, the working of angels. I was teaching her how to know when angels are around and what to do to make them manifest. She was really interested because apparently, she had been getting to depths in prayer, but she did not know how to proceed. So, I told her what she should have done, and I told her to do it the next time she prays. So she got to her closet and that place in God, she did what I said and she was about to have a spiritual encounter and she ran away. I asked her why? But I did not want to force her to go back. The point is when you talk to God expect Him to talk back to you.

The second thing I need you to understand about the Holy Spirit is, the Holy Spirit is a singing spirit. There are depths in your walk with God and with the Holy Spirit that you cannot get to with just words. Songs take you to depths that words cannot. Songs bring you to depths in God. This has nothing to do with having a good voice or not. You do not need to have an excellent voice, just bring your croaky voice, He made it anyway so He will accept it. Perhaps you want to start by singing, ‘…take joy my King, in what You hear. Let it be a sweet sweet sound in Your ear‘. God can choose to delight in your singing. In fact, the Bible says that He sings over us (Zep.3:17)

Check scriptures, every time there is a move of God, the Holy Spirit is present. And when the Holy Spirit is present, something always happens. Every great move of God is preceded by a sound, for example, the valley of the dry bones. Every great move of God is preceded by a sound. At creation, the Holy Spirit was present, and God spoke. God speaking, is a sound. If you hear the audible voice of God, it is a “terrible thing”. The children of Israel heard God’s audible voice and they begged Moses to go on their behalf. I have a friend that has heard God audibly. Every time she narrates that story, she shakes uncontrollably because when you hear God audibly, it messes you up. God speaks to us these days through the Holy Spirit. Like high voltage, you have to step it down with a step-down transformer otherwise, your home appliances will burn out.

Prayer (song): Come, Holy Spirit, I need you. Come, sweet Spirit, I pray. Come in Your strength and Your power. Come in Your own special way. Amen!
