Done!

John 19:30 “When Jesus had tasted it, he said, “It is finished!” Then he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.”

The sixth Words that Jesus spoke on the cross was, “It is finished!”. Our focus today is not on the taste of what was given to Jesus. What is most important for us is that the quality of the water we give does not determine the quality of the river He releases. Again, this is huge! When they gave Jesus something to drink, even though it was not palatable, He still declared “It is finished”. He declared open the release of the living water that He had to offer us. Amazing! Jesus said, “It is finished” and not, ‘I am finished’. Jesus was not finished; He was just getting started. Jesus was declaring that the work of salvation is finished. The work of deliverance is finished. The work of the forgiveness of the sin of humanity is finished. The work of redemption is finished. It is finished! Listen, over two thousand years ago, it was finished.

There is nothing that you are facing today that God is just about to solve. God has already solved it. It is finished. The work has been done. The price has been paid.  That brings us again to the fact that we do not fight for victory, we fight from victory. We do not fight from a place where we are looking to secure victory. We are more than victorious, more than conquerors already. So, we fight from victory to retain, maintain, and sustain the territories that Jesus has given us. That is why scriptures say in Rev.3:11 “…hold that fast which thou hast, that no man take thy crown.” (KJV). And you are wondering, ‘what crown? I do not have a crown. I do not even think I have anything.’ But you do because it is settled.

The world is facing a whole lot right now and a lot of people are hurting and confused. It is our prayer that everyone that is hurting or confused will experience healing and receive clarity in Jesus Name. The truth is that you can even be a child of God and you are struggling with these things. However, that does not change the fact that your healing is done already. Am I saying that Christians can never fall ill? Of course not. The world we live in is broken. What I do is, I say to myself, by the wounds of Jesus I am healed. You and I have to consistently appropriate the finished work of Calvary. And that is our warfare on earth until we see Jesus. The seventh Words of Jesus on the cross of Calvary is in Luke 23:46And when Jesus had cried with a loud voice, he said, Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit: and having said thus, he gave up the ghost.” (KJV).

Jesus’ seven Words on the cross started with ‘Father’ and ended with ‘Father’. I did a quick check and I discovered that Jesus’ first Words He said to the Father. The second words He said to man. The third Words He said to man. The fourth Words Jesus said to the Father. The fifth Words Jesus said to man. The seventh Words Jesus said to the Father. But the sixth Words, Jesus declared to the heaven, the earth, and to everything beneath the earth that  it is finished – perfection!

Prayer (song): Calvary covers it all. My sin and shame don’t count anymore. All praise to the One who has ransomed my soul. Calvary covers it all. Amen!
