Steady Hope
Psalm 37:34 “Put your hope in the Lord. Travel steadily along his path. He will honor you by giving you the land. You will see the wicked destroyed.”
When God’s Favourite House was about to start, there were about fifteen people in my living room that day. And I was saying, our vision is to be filled with the life of Christ Jesus and released into our destinies, taking the world for Him. We did not even know where we were going to have church and you are saying taking the world for Him? What are you saying? We are going from hotel to hotel; our vision is to be filled with the life of Christ Jesus and released into our destinies, taking the world for Him. Let us even pay the next rent for next week’s service. And sometimes because we struggle to pay the current rent, we deflate our big dreams. We allow failure to deflate our dreams, to take the air out of the balloon. We allow failure to say to us, you know what, just cut it to a manageable size. I refuse to cut it to a manageable size!
The dream, the vision will ways be at the size where I need divine intervention and that is why I always get divine intervention. In Joshua 7:1-15 (please read), Joshua and the children of Israel had defeated a lot of nations on their journey. They went to Ai with three thousand men, and they were soundly defeated. They had failed and Joshua fell on his face saying to God, ‘how will I stand before the people, what will I say when the people begin to turn their backs on the enemy?’ [paraphrased]. God said to Joshua, ‘Get up and correct the problem’ [paraphrased]. The truth is, when you are facing a failure situation, the answer is not to cut your dream to size. The answer is to get up and correct the problem. Something is wrong, get up and correct it. Joshua got up and corrected it.
God is saying to you today, get up and correct the problem. Why are you crying? Get up and correct it. Just get up! Yes, you entered that business line, but it crashed, and you been crying. Get up! Unfortunately, sometimes, it is a marriage that is not working out. Get up, that is what the Bible says, just get up. The truth is the failure does not terminate our story. Failure is not final unless you choose it to be. It is up to you, what is it going to be? The second thing from this story, if you look at the story of Joshua and the children of Israel, they were in the middle of God’s will. Very often with our dreams, we may be doing the right thing, but we are doing it the wrong way. God wanted the entire army to go and fight Ai, even though Ai was small.
But Joshua, due to over confidence and listening to the elders, chose three thousand men. Sometimes, you are doing the right thing in the wrong way and that is why it is not working. We build our lives on stepping back, restrategizing, and building on our hopes. We do not build our lives on our hurts. If you build your life on hurts, you are heading for disaster. Build your life on your hopes. Ps.37:34 “Put your hope in the Lord. Travel steadily along his path…”
Prayer: My Father, I come to You today and I ask that You heal my heart of every hurt and help me build on the hope that You have given me in Christ Jesus, in Jesus Name. Amen!
