So Important

Prov.14:7-8 “Escape quickly from the company of fools; they’re a waste of your time, a waste of your words. The wisdom of the wise keeps life on track; the foolishness of fools lands them in the ditch.” (MSG)

The first thing in getting wisdom is to Ask God for it. The second thing in getting wisdom, if you want to get wisdom, is you need to Walk With The Wise. If you have three friends, and three of them are fools, very soon you will be the fourth fool as they say. The truth is you are the average of the three people you spend the most time with. It does not matter if you have a Ph.D. If you spend the most time with ‘no bodies’, people who not going anywhere and have no vision for their lives. You will become eventually the average of the summation of their lives. So, check, are you walking with wise people, or are you walking with fools? No disrespect. It is not arrogance, but you need to identify some people as fools if they are fools. If you are not walking with the wise, you need to adjust. This is so important.

For you to rise up and become all that God has called you to be, you cannot be consumed with I have known him for twenty years or I have known her since primary school, they shared a with me in kindergarten. Do not trap your destiny. You need to go beyond that. Find wise people. By the way, before wise people can be your friend, they need to see that you are wise. So, it is like a catch 22. When wise people see a foolish person, they can be friendly, but they will never be their friend. And it is because they know that foolishness is contagious. If you spend enough time with a fool, you begin to behave like a fool. I have seen people, smart people, intelligent people, wise people marry foolish people. Then after a while, they begin to behave like fools. The spouse contaminated their wisdom and contaminated their lives. This is so important.

This is not about being unfriendly, not about being cocky, and it is not about segregation. The truth is even though you love everyone, you cannot be friends with everyone. You have only twenty-four hours a day. You really cannot be so, what is it going to be? Walk with the wise. Why? In the same way, foolishness is contagious, wisdom is also contagious. When you walk with wise people, the way they make simple decisions rubs off on you. And before you know it you start thinking like them and making decisions like them. Prov.13:20Walk with the wise and become wise; associate with fools and get in trouble.” The Passion Translation puts it this way, “If you want to grow in wisdom, spend time with the wise. Walk with the wicked and you’ll eventually become just like them.” But I like their jokes, and I like their dress sense it is trendy.

You can be foolish and be trendy. When you look at people, you think you may think they are wise. But when they open their mouth, you know who the fool is. I want to challenge you to do an audit of your life. You are the average of the three people you spend the most time with. Who are the people you have been sending the most time with? Do a relationship audit.

Prayer: Father, please bring me into relationships with people who operate in Your wisdom effortlessly, help me value them so that I too will be wise, in Jesus Name. Amen!
