Stretch Chapter

Prov. 13:²⁰ “He who walks [as a companion] with wise men will be wise, But the companions of [conceited, dull-witted] fools [are fools themselves and] will experience harm.” (AMP).

You are the average of the three people you spend the most time with. If you want to be spiritual, find spiritual people. Spiritual people are spiritual even when they are drinking tea because it is their way of life. spiritual people are spiritual even when they are playing games, they are just who they are naturally and consistently. Wise people are wise even in the simplest decisions, they are wise. So, the first thing we need in building our dreams is to Get Wisdom. The second thing that we need in building our dreams is to Stretch Our Imagination. Eph.3:²⁰ “Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us” (NKJV). When I read this scripture is as if God is saying, ‘I dare you to outthink My capabilities’.

God is able to do exceedingly abundantly above what we can think or imagine. Stretch your imagination. Allow the Holy Spirit to expand your vision, allow Him to stretch the way you think. How do you do that? Read your Bible. Read books. Allow God to stretch you. How do you do that? Travel, leave your village. When I said travel, for many people travel expenses flashed through your minds. Travel. Many of you have spent eighty percent (80%) of your time in your current location. Travel, go to all the way across town. Leave your car, take a bus, expand your mind. Traveling actually expands your mind in a way you cannot even explain. Just go there, you will be shocked at the settlements there and at how they think and how they do life. Travel, meet creative people just meet for fun, no agenda, just to chit chat. Just travel.

Let the Holy Spirit stretch your imagination. As you are reading, expanding your mind, getting yourself out of your comfort zone, allow the Holy Spirit to challenge your thinking. He is going to point your attention to things and say, ‘Can you see that? Can you see how they are doing this? Can you see how this is different from how you are doing that?’ And you just allow Him. Let the Holy Spirit expand your thinking. How else do you do that? One thing I do is, I force myself to answer tough questions. Force yourself to answer tough questions. Sit alone, just take a cup of tea and a notebook and ask yourself, what do I really want in life? Force yourself to think about that. What do you really want in life? Most people cannot answer that question.

What do I really want? Ask the tough questions. What will I be doing right now if I had all the resources and failure was not a possibility? Guess what? By the grace of God, I answered that question decades ago. What will I be doing if failure was not a possibility, and I had all the resources at my disposal? I said to myself, I will be helping people get into their destinies, helping people walk with God. Guess what? That is what I am doing now.

Prayer: Father, open my spiritual eyes, stretch my imagination, open my heart, heighten my discernment, open my ears and deepen my understanding, in Jesus Name. Amen!
