Your Response

Psalm 150:6 “Let everything that has breath praise the Lord. Praise the Lord.” (NIV)

We will kick-off today’s devotional with the final thought from yesterday. Which is, until you learn how to serve someone else’s dream, you do not qualify to be part of that great dream that you think is yours. When Joseph was going about his dream, he ended up in the pit. But when Joseph was serving other people’s dreams in the prison – helping the butler, helping the baker, helping Pharaoh – boom! God said, ‘Joseph is ready’, and he ended up in the palace. And when his brothers came to him, Joseph said, ‘I have learnt a big lesson; it is not my dream, it is God’s dream, and it is for God’s glory’. Even in our praise, it is all about God’s glory.

If you go to church only to listen to the Word, you skip praise and worship, you have missed the point hugely. It is during praise and worship that we give to God, we acknowledge His greatness and give Him the glory that is due to His Name. When we are listening to the Word, God gives back to us. He blesses us with light, with illumination, and He gives us direction. It is like a spiritual transaction. But when you skip praise and worship and you show up, you have not given to God. You need to change that completely. Why? Your praise is for God’s glory. When someone gives you a gift, what should you say? Thank you, right? No matter how many times, or how frequently the person gives you gifts, what do you say? Thank you.

What will happen if the person gives you a gift in the morning and you say thank you. The person gives you a gift in the afternoon and you say thank you. But when the person gives you a gift in the evening, you figure that you have said thank you several times so no need to say it again. You get gifts the following day, in the morning, afternoon, and evening. You collect the gifts, but you still do not feel the need to say thank you since you have said it repeatedly. Guess what will happen? You will wake up in the morning with no gifts.

The Psalmist says, ‘I will bless the Lord at all times, His praise shall continually be in my mouth.’ How is that even possible? It is simple. God says, ‘let everything that has breath praise the Lord.’ The question is are you breathing? Then thank Him because that breath is a gift. Did you just breathe again? What should you say? Thanksgiving is all about God’s Glory. Praising God never ever gets old because His mercies are new every morning. God’s gift is fresh every morning. ‘Let everything that has breath praise the Lord‘, everything means everything whether black, white, Hispanic, African, European, Asian. The question is not are you a saint, washed in the Blood? The question is not have you sinned? The question is, are you breathing? Then praise God.

Prayer (song): Glory, glory, glory to the Father. Glory, glory, glory to the Son. Glory, glory, glory to the Holy Ghost. Halleluiah, Halleluiah. Amen!
