Good vs. Great
Hebrews 11:24&26 “It was by faith that Moses, when he grew up, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter… He thought it was better to suffer for the sake of Christ than to own the treasures of Egypt, for he was looking ahead to his great reward.”
The light forward response to guilt is to Learn From The Past. We must learn from the past without the past discouraging the future. Learn from the past but do not get stuck on the past. Do not let the past define you regardless of the past – successful past or unsuccessful past. Once you have learnt from the past, imitate Paul in Philippians 3:13 “…but I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead”. So, you have learnt from the past, you are a stronger person, and you have built a stronger system. But do not stop there, focus on the future. 2023 is going to be a great year for you in the Name of Jesus. This is the decade of destiny; God is going to release multiple colours of beauty into your life in the Mighty Name of Jesus. Light will saturate your life, so look forward! The past is gone!
We often just want to gloat in the past; the past is gone, look forward! Listen, what lies ahead of you is far greater, what lies ahead of you is bigger than what is behind you, far bigger. The light forward response to guilt is to learn from the mistakes, learn from the successes, and move forward without letting it discourage you or make you ineffective. The second light forward response is I need to Be Mindfully Aware Of “Good” Things That Distract From The Best Things. You need to be mindfully aware of the “good” things that distract you from the best things. Certain things are good, praise God for them but if we get bogged down with them, they will distract us from the best things.
The truth is that the things that we drift off towards are not necessarily evil. They may be good things, but we drift off the path of greatness. When you drift off a great path because of the good path, you lose the great destiny that God has for you. I pray that you will not lose the great destiny that God has for you in the Name of Jesus. So, we need to be very aware of the good things that distract from the great things. What are the great things that God has called you to do? One of my friends told me that he wishes that he had my certificate. This was about two years into pastoring, and he asked, why did you go to school? You say you are a Pastor now – Pastor! You mean with all you know, with all your education, all you now do is talk about Jesus? He was ridiculing me. So, he said, ‘just give me your certificate then!’
I had a better grade than he did in university, and he felt that if he had my certificate, he would have got a better job. In his opinion, I had the good certificate that he and everybody wanted, and I was just there saying that I am a ‘Pastor’. I smiled because he would not understand. Obviously, it is good for me to have a secular job because by God’s grace I am good at what I do. But it is nothing compared to serving God by serving God’s people in ministry – nothing!
Prayer: Father, help me to stay on the great path that You have for me, in Jesus Name. Amen!
