Be Generous
Luke 6:38 “Give to others, and you will receive. You will be given much. It will be poured into your hands—more than you can hold. You will be given so much that it will spill into your lap. The way you give to others is the way God will give to you. (ERV)
The first thing we need to know about doors is, Doors Are Metaphors For The Choices We Make In Our Everyday Lives. The second thing we need to know is Our Destiny Will Be Shaped By Which Doors We Walk Past And Which Doors We Walk Through. The third thing we need to understand is, a door may be An Opportunity From God, A Distraction From Others or A Trap From satan. The fourth thing we need to know is, Sometimes God Shuts A Door For Our Protection. The story is told of a man who was the general manager at a large organization. However, based on some political manoeuvrings, he was fired, and being a family man, it was really devastating. So, he went to his pastor, explained the situation, and his Pastor said, ‘Listen, sometimes God shuts a door so that He can open a better door.’
And the man believed in faith. Long story short, the competitor was hiring, and they hired him as the CEO. The competitor was bigger than the company he was coming from. Guess what? In a short time, the competitor company acquired his former company and another competing company. And he became the group CEO of the three companies. If the door had not shut, and he was still GM, or Ed, by the time that competitor acquires that company, where will he be? At best, he will be given some merged role or let go. Sometimes, God shuts a door to protect you and you need to understand that.
The fifth thing we need to know about doors is, God Will Open Doors For Us If We Open Doors For Others. This is really huge! “Do unto others as much as you want them to do unto you” – this is known as the golden rule. Proverbs 11:25 “The generous will prosper; those who refresh others will themselves be refreshed.” In other words, anyone who generously blesses others will be generously blessed. And when you refresh others, you will be refreshed yourself. When you generously bless others with money, the God of heaven, says you will be generously blessed. When you generously bless others with your time, you give someone a listening ear, you pay attention. God says you will be generously blessed.
When you generously bless others with your energy, God says you will be generously blessed. It will come back to you. When you generously bless others with praises, when you give compliments without reservation, you will be generously blessed.
Prayer: Father, I ask for the grace to mirror Your heart in giving, in Jesus Name. Amen!
