Little Things

Luke 16:10 “Whoever can be trusted with small things can also be trusted with big things. Whoever is dishonest in little things will be dishonest in big things too.” (ERV)

We will kick off today’s devotional with our final thought from yesterday. Luke 16:10-12 “If you are faithful in little things, you will be faithful in large ones. But if you are dishonest in little things, you won’t be honest with greater responsibilities. And if you are untrustworthy about worldly wealth, who will trust you with the true riches of heaven? And if you are not faithful with other people’s things, why should you be trusted with things of your own?” When you place a demand on the ‘great things’, God says, ‘Fantastic! But I will inspect how you have done with the ‘little things’ that you think does not matter. Guess what? Little things are sometimes obscure things, things that nobody else sees. It is how you are faithful in the little things that determine the great things that will be committed into your hands.

If there is one lesson that every teenager must learn, every young adult must learn, and everyone that has a big vision must learn, it is the lesson of being faithful in little things. You have to be faithful in little things because God is not a respecter of persons. If you are faithful in little things, heaven can commit great things to you. People will look at you and say, why is she so anointed? Why is she so favoured? It is because she has been faithful in little things. You desire to be great, right? You have to be faithful in little things. Caleb was faithful as a scout and as a spy.

Joshua 14:12 “So give me the mountain that the Lord promised me. You will remember that as scouts we found the descendants of Anak living there in great, walled towns…” In other words, Caleb was saying, as scouts (as spies) we went, but now as generals, we are demanding. Jesus says, “…But if you are dishonest in little things, you won’t be honest with greater responsibilities.” Sometimes, we say to God, ‘If You trust me with this big result, even You Yourself will beat Your chest that You have a daughter’. God is saying, ‘Can we see what you have done with this little one first so that I know I have a daughter or a son here’.

We make our claims, we demand for great things and that is what this season is all about. Give me this mountain! But guess what? It is the little things that nobody sees that determine the great things that everybody wants. Luke 16:10 If you are faithful in little things, you will be faithful in large ones. But if you are dishonest in little things, you won’t be honest with greater responsibilities.” It is your faithfulness as a scout that opens the door for you to be a general who demands for the mountain and heaven cannot refuse!

Prayer: Father, help me serve faithfully in little and much, in Jesus Mighty Name. Amen!
