Trustworthy

2 Samuel 22:²⁶ “To the faithful you show yourself faithful; to those with integrity you show integrity.”

Sometimes, when Jesus is teaching, He is teaching the same truth, but He uses different analogies. When He does that, it means whatever He says is very important. Remember the story of the prodigal son? In the same chapter, Jesus told the story of the lost coin. And in the same chapter, He told the story of the lost sheep—the same principle. Luke 16:¹¹ “And if you are untrustworthy about worldly wealth, who will trust you with the true riches of heaven?” We want the true riches from heaven, and God will bless us with the true riches from heaven (say Amen). That is our prayer for you. However, our job is also to teach you how God works, and to show you how these things work. It is not a jackpot. These are principles of heaven.

You say, ‘God, I want the treasures of darkness, the hidden riches of secret places.’ This is one prayer I pray for you consistently. God wants to give you the treasures of darkness, the hidden riches of secret places, the true riches of heaven. But what have you done with the ‘little things’ in your hands? People erroneously think that if they have more money, their lives will be better. It is not true. You say, but all the challenges I am having right now are financial, won’t more money solve them? Not quite. The money problem is a symptom of the real challenge you are having right now. The real challenge, someone says, is a wisdom problem not a money problem. There is almost no one that has a money problem. What we have is a wisdom problem.

What some have is an order problem. People’s lives are in so much disorder, financial disorder. Some people are afraid to even look at their bank account. You know why they are afraid? It is because it is the epitome of confusion. If you ask such people, ‘How much did you make last month?’ The response is usually something like, ‘Let’s just say God is faithful’. No! How much did you make, how was it dispensed, and how was it distributed? What went where? If you are not checking guess what? Heaven is checking, and it is a prerequisite for the treasures of darkness that God really wants to give you.

Some of us think that if we can earn twenty million a month, our problems will be solved. For a lot of people, if they remain the way they are and they earn twenty million a month, it is an express way to suicide. And because God loves you, He will not do that to you. If your fourteen-year-old son asks for the keys of your brand-new Mercedes Benz, will you give it to him? I hope not. You should first check to see how he has treated his bicycle.
