Woman!

Proverbs 31:25-27 “She is clothed with strength and dignity, and she laughs without fear of the future. When she speaks, her words are wise, and she gives instructions with kindness. She carefully watches everything in her household and suffers nothing from laziness.”

We will start today’s devotional with our final thought from yesterday. Proverbs 13:22A good person leaves an inheritance for their children’s children, but a sinner’s wealth is stored up for the righteous.” (NIV).

Note that the Bible did not even say the good man leaves an inheritance (money) for his children alone. A good man’s wealth lasts to the next generation, to his grandchildren. I have heard people spiritualize this scripture, insisting that the most important thing is the blessing. Yes, we know that. However, the Bible also says that “the blessing of the Lord makes rich and adds no sorrow to it” (Proverbs 10:22).

As the head of the family, you have to think about what you are handing down to your children. It will be sad if your children have to start from scratch. But that will not happen because you will give them a solid platform to launch from in the Name of Jesus. Even if you have twelve children, all of them will have an inheritance in the Name of Jesus. And when we consider the dynamics of the family, the role of the mother is so powerful. When we compare scriptures and see how the Bible depicts the woman in the home, we see that the mother is like the developer, the builder of the home. Women do so many things for us and for the home.

I thought I understood it and appreciated it until recently. I used to be one of those who question why Mother’s Day was celebrated three times a year. Meanwhile, Father’s Day was celebrated just once. That is cheating! Then I found myself as a single father of an infant that I had to feed and take care of, and I still had to preach. Many people did not know but I would have to mute meetings I am in to attend to my crying infant. And I concluded that there should be twelve Mother’s Days in a year, one for every month. How do women do it? And they keep having children even with all that they have on their plate already?

It must be how they are wired to nurture. My mom has six of us and she was determined to have a girl. So, my grandmother came to support her so she can keep having children, and my grandma will take care of them. I think after the first two were boys, she wanted a girl. In my case, God hid me from everything—the scans and prophets. Everybody was prophesying that I was a baby girl. When I was born, and my mum saw it was another boy, she said she made up her mind that if it takes her having fifteen children, she was not going to stop until she had a girl. When God saw her determination, He decided to give her a girl. Mothers are amazing!

Prayer: Father, we pray for grace for every woman reading this today, in Jesus Name. Amen!
