Fitness

2 Kings 4:3-5 “And Elisha said, “Borrow as many empty jars as you can from your friends and neighbours… Pour oil from your flask into the jars, setting each one aside when it is filled.” So she did as she was told. Her sons kept bringing jars to her, and she filled one after another.”

Not only was this woman fit, but she could also deploy her fitness to secure a limitless financial future. Some people are energetic but not strong. Some are strong but not energetic. Not only was she energetic and strong, but she also had the necessary work ethic.

She was consistent at work—showing up early, leaving late, and doing what needed to be done. Unfortunately, a lot of people would prefer to work less and earn more. It is popularly known as the ‘work like an ant eat like an elephant’ mindset. Sometimes, we get these things twisted. For you to maximize favour, you must be a hard worker. If you work like an ant, you most likely will eat like an ant.

I pray that not only will you work hard, but you will also see the fruits of your labour and God will bless the work of your hands (say Amen). So that by the time we compare the fruits of your labour to the works of your hand, because of God’s blessing on it, it will look like an elephant compared to an ant (say Amen).  Proverbs 31:17 “She is energetic and strong, a hard worker.” The truth is there is no way out of it, you have to be energetic and strong. We sometimes like to spiritualize everything. You just have to be a hard worker who is energetic and strong for you to be limitless, live a limitless life and secure a limitless future. Proverbs 31:19 “Her hands are busy spinning thread, her fingers twisting fibre.” This points to the fact that in addition to being energetic, strong and a hard worker, she was also skilful.

However, our focus is on the fact that you have to be energetic, strong and a hard worker. And it is because your fitness and your health are big with God. What is fitness? Fitness is defined as one’s ability to execute activities with optimal performance, endurance, and strength. Fitness is one’s ability to execute destiny-shaping activities, activities that are tied to your destiny, with optimal performance, endurance and strength. If the activity that has to do with fulfilling your destiny is moving things from ‘point A’ to ‘point B,’ and you are able to do it with optimal performance, endurance and strength (you do not give up), then you are fit.

But if you get tired in between then something is wrong. Maybe your work hours are from eight to six. But when it is eleven o’clock in the morning, you are already tired and checking the time. You are not fit. Some claim that they are uninterested in the work they do. Then something is wrong with your fitness on another level. I pray that you will execute your destiny activities with optimal performance, sustained endurance and full strength in Jesus Name.

Prayer: Father, I ask for the grace to prioritize fitness consistently, in Jesus Name. Amen!
