Determined Purpose!

Acts 2:²³“Him, being delivered by the determined purpose and foreknowledge of God…” (NKJV, emphasis added).

For many of us, when we think about how Jesus was betrayed, we could say, it was Judas being greedy. Some even argue that Jesus too should have minded His speech.

That Jesus spoke offensively, He was very brutal. Jesus could have been more mature and wiser when He was speaking to the Pharisees. Why was Jesus saying, “Woe unto you scribes, woe unto you teachers of the law…” Maybe they would not have crucified Jesus. Jesus has a weakness; He was speaking very brashly. The school of thought says He may not have died a premature death if He was a wise “little boy”. Judas had his role to play but see the way Jesus was disgraced. He was hung on the cross and was crucified.

Yet the Bible says EVERYTHING was by the determined purpose and foreknowledge of God. Wow! You may look at your life and it may look like a mess. God has sent me to tell you that you are going to be alright. God knows what He is doing. He says to tell you that it is His determined purpose. But everything looks like happenstance, looks like an accident. No! There are no accidents in God. It is by the determined purpose and the foreknowledge of God. I know my daughter will go through this. I know this will happen to her. I know they will say this about her. I know she will go through that. He knows; it is foreknowing. It was a purposeful thing. really? Couldn’t it have happened to some other way? Well, it did not.

God could have just said purpose, that is strong enough. But He said determined purpose. Not only was it purposeful, it was predetermined. It was not just on purpose; there was a determination behind that purpose. You are going to come out on top in the Name of Jesus (say Amen). Acts 2:²⁴“whom God raised up, having loosed the pains of death, because it was not possible that He should be held by it.” (NKJV, emphasis added). God is going to raise you. Crucifixion is not the end, resurrection is coming. David who lived before Christ on earth said in Acts 2:²⁵“…‘I foresaw the Lord always before my face, For He is at my right hand, that I may not be shaken.” And because this same Jesus is at your right hand, you will not be shaken!
