Seven, Eight
Luke 6:38 “Don’t hold back—give freely, and you’ll have plenty poured back into your lap—a good measure, pressed down, shaken together, brimming over. You’ll receive in the same measure you give.” (The Voice)
I have heard people challenging their congregation to give say, give until it hurts. Or say, you have not given until it hurts. Sometimes misquoting David by saying I will not give God that which does not cost me. David did not say I will not give if it does not hurt me. David said it must cost him something. It must cost you something. How much was the field to David? Purchasing it did not create any hurt to him, but it cost him something. So, to say give until it hurts is like elementary stuff. Like we said some days ago, how you would feel when you receive five million versus how you would feel when you give five million. You should feel happier giving.
And if you do not, then here is the key. Do not give till you hurt, give till you feel good. So, when you begin to give and it is hurting, continue until you break through that feeling of hurt. It is just like priming a pump. When you give and it hurts, it means you are still stingy. So, keep giving, let it keep hurting. After a while, it will be trained, and the joy of God will overshadow it. And the flow will begin. God guarantees to meet all your needs when you give generously. These are Words to live by.
The eight of nine rewards: God Promises He Will Multiply What You Give Him. This is the principle of multiplication right here. So, whatever you give to God, God returns a lot more back to you. Whatever you need more of, give it to God. If you need more time, give your time to God. If you need more energy, give your energy to God. That is why you would notice that if you give your time to God, everything just has a way of working out. I can tell you from experience. If you give your energy to God, you will seem to just have almost non-stop energy. People would wonder, where does he get all this energy from? And you will say, it is because I give my energy to God, and He multiplies it back to me.
Anything you want more of, give it to God. Do you want more time? Give your time to God and He will multiply it back to you. Do you want more energy? Give your energy to God and He will multiply it back to you. Do you want more money? Give your money to God and He will multiply it back to you. That is how it works. 2 Corinthians 9:6 “Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously.” (NIV).
Prayer: Father, empower me to give cheerfully and keep on giving, in Jesus Name. Amen!
