Admit It
Judges 6:14-15 “Then the Lord turned to him and said, “Go with the strength you have, and rescue Israel from the Midianites. I am sending you!” “But Lord,” Gideon replied, “how can I rescue Israel? My clan is the weakest in the whole tribe of Manasseh, and I am the least in my entire family!”
To move from zero to hero, from less than enough to more than enough. To move from just managing and struggling to get by, to a place in God where you have over and above, and you are walking in the destiny that God has for you. We will be learning five things from the story of Gideon beginning today. Are you ready?
Our first lesson from Gideon is an Honest Admittance of Your Current Situation. You need to be honest about where you are. Judges 6:12-13 “The angel of the Lord appeared to him and said, “Mighty hero, the Lord is with you!” “Sir,” Gideon replied, “if the Lord is with us, why has all this happened to us? And where are all the miracles our ancestors told us about? Didn’t they say, ‘The Lord brought us up out of Egypt’? But now the Lord has abandoned us and handed us over to the Midianites.” Gideon’s response to the Angel calling him a mighty hero was more or less him saying, “No, I am zero. I am not a mighty man of war. Look, l am in hiding. How can you call me a mighty man of war? Look at all the things that they said God will do. But see where we are. Things are not the way they are supposed to be.”
The first step to entering into the more that you are made of is an honest admittance of your current situation. You need to be honest about your current situation. The truth is until you admit to where you are, you cannot advance to where you should be. We often “Christianize” things. Yes, there is a place for calling those things that are not as though they are. But to call the things that are not as though they are, you need to reckon with the things that are. You cannot be in denial of the things that are. What is the basis for calling the things that are not as though they are? Until you admit to where you are, you cannot advance to where you should be.
If you want to see God move you to more than enough, you need to admit first where you are. In Ruth 1:8-13 (please read), we see in the story of Naomi a classic example of an honest admittance of the current situation. It is not weakness or a lack of faith to admit your current situation. In fact, faith requires that you admit your current situation before you can leap to what God wants for you. Naomi was brutally honest. You need to be brutally honest. Until you are brutally honest, you are not going anywhere. You need to be brutally honest. Many Christians are living in la-la-land, so they are not truthful about the current situation of their business, health, finances, relationships, or marriage. Until you see things for what they are, you cannot be more than you are.
Prayer: Father, I admit that my strength is little compared to the greatness that You have placed before me. I admit that I need Your help and strength, in Jesus Name. Amen!
