Step Up
Philippians 2:17 “But I will rejoice even if I lose my life, pouring it out like a liquid offering to God, just like your faithful service is an offering to God. And I want all of you to share that joy.”
Pouring it out is messy and muddled. If it was muddy and messy for Jesus, it is going to be muddy and messy for you. If it was not a straight line for Jesus, why are you expecting a straight line?
You have been pouring into your children and you are expecting a straight line? Stop it! Stop focusing on what you cannot control. Focus on what you can control. Stop comparing your child to other children who “behave perfectly”. Focus on your own and keep pouring out. If you have been holding back, you need to start pouring out. Yes, it is messy and muddled, but the result is Multiplication. We call it glorious and messy.
In the parable of the talent, the two servants who poured out actually took a huge risk. The Bible says they traded; do you know what it is to trade? Trading can be messy. There is no one who has traded successfully and did not record a loss at some point. If you have not, then you have not traded, or maybe you had beginner’s luck. The key thing is that the sum total should be profitable, with more margins of profit than loss. Overall, you are profitable. But when you take the chance to trade, it is messy, muddled, and risky. But that is what leads to multiplication.
The first consequence of pouring out is it is pleasing to Jesus. The Master (Jesus) said to the two servants, “Well done, you have been faithful in little; much more will be added to you” (Matthew 25:21). The second consequence of pouring out is it is exciting. Since I gave my life to Jesus, it has been nonstop action. Like when the Bible says, “the wind blows where it wishes…” (John 3:8). But guess what? It always leads to multiplication. I have not had a boring moment since I started following Jesus in 1995. And it is because I am always pouring out. Listen, life is not worth living if you are just storing it. Pour it! Take the step, trust God, and keep pouring out. God will bring the multiplication in the Name of Jesus.
But back to the story of Mr Mufti and his three Sunday school children—two boys and a girl. The man telling the story turned out great. The girl turned out great; she became a solid Christian surgeon. No one knows what happened to the third child. If we say Mr Mufti scored two out of three, that is amazing because all his toiling and faithfulness paid off. Your faithfulness will pay off. As you pour out your life, you will see multiplication. But the third child may also have turned out great. Which means Mr Mufti scored a hundred percent. Note that it was never zero. The work you do for God is eternal. If it is based on the Word of God, it is an incorruptible seed, and it will always produce eternal fruit.
Prayer: Father, as I pour out my life in obedience to Your Will, let me experience multiplication, in Jesus Name. Amen!
