Matthew 26:³⁹ “Going a little ahead, he fell on his face, praying, “My Father, if there is any way, get me out of this. But please, not what I want. You, what do you want?” (MSG)

I know there are people who desire to get married reading this today. In fact, about a third of people in church are unmarried adults – either never married or used to be married. And some actually really desire to get married, but it has just not happened. Don’t worry, God will fill your mouth with laughter, and He will fill your tongue with singing. So, why should I GET married? Why should I STAY married? Why should I RE-marry? If you check scriptures, God has always referred to marriage as something that is close to His heart. In fact, He described the relationship between Himself and Israel as that of a husband and wife. God says in Isaiah 54:⁵ “For your Creator will be your husband the Lord of Heaven’s Armies is his name! He is your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel, the God of all the earth.”

There are several instances in scriptures where God will accuse the nation of Israel of adultery. And it is because He regarded the nation as His bride. Sometimes, when they strayed, He accused them of adultery. In fact, He commanded a Prophet to marry a prostitute so that he can feel what God was feeling. Marriage is big to God. In fact, the church, the body of Christ (if you will), is God’s remarriage – God marrying a new bride. The church is the bride of Christ. The Bible says in Romans 11:¹¹ “Does this mean that God has rejected his Jewish people forever? Of course not! His purpose was to make his salvation available to the Gentiles, and then the Jews would be jealous and begin to want God’s salvation for themselves.” (LB).

John 1:^11-12 “He came unto his own, and his own received him not. But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name” (KJV). Meaning that the Church as the bride of Christ exists because Israel as a nation did not fulfil its destiny. Marriage matters. Why GET married? Why STAY married? Why RE-marry? To those who are asking, why GET married? Four things. To those who are asking, why STAY married? There are people who are just waiting for their children to leave the house. Why STAY married? The same four things. And to those who are asking, why RE-marry? Why remarry? Why bother? The same four things. Are you ready?

Number one, Marriage Is God’s Idea. Why GET married, STAY married, or RE-marry? Marriage is God’s idea. Marriage is not a human idea or a cultural idea. Marriage is God’s idea.
