Why Marry, II
Ecclesiastes 4:9&11 “Two people are better than one. When two people work together, they get more work done… If two people sleep together, they will be warm. But a person sleeping alone will not be warm.” (ERV)
There are certain medical challenges that some men have faced. And if not for the fact that they are married, they would be dead. I am telling you for free. But because of the support of their wives, because of that connection, they had something to live for. So, they overcome and become healthier. The report states that Men who are married live longer than those who aren’t married. They amass more wealth than those who live with a woman without marriage, and they have fewer injuries and illnesses. In other words, you choose to cohabit with a woman, but you are going to end up in poverty if you do not marry her. That is what the report says.
Now, here is what will solve the problem for a lot of Gen Z, Millennials, all of us actually. The report states that Living together without the permanent commitment of marriage has proven to have none of these benefits. Zero. These are scientists, psychologists, sociologists, and family experts that did this research. They said that when two people who are not married live together, they get none of these benefits. None, not one. But in that permanent commitment where two people choose to live together for the rest of their lives, having each other’s backs, for better – for worse, and in whatever circumstance. It is a complete game changer.
Proverbs 14:34 “Doing what is right makes a nation great…” (NCV). Hebrews 13:4 “Marriage should be honoured by everyone… “(NCV, emphasis added). Does the Bible say marriage is to be honoured only by those who are married and by those who like or desire marriage? Not at all. The Word of God says marriage should be honoured by everyone. We stated in days past that about a third of churches is made up of single people. A third is a large number, and it is made up of people who have never been married, and those who were formerly married. If you are reading this today, and you have never been married. God sees you and God gets you. If you were formerly married, God sees you and God gets you.
Whether you were formerly married, never been married, or currently married, the Bible says marriage should be honoured by everyone. If you have never been married, and desire to get married, you will get married. It will not delay any longer in Jesus Name. If you used to be married, perhaps now widowed, a widower, or divorced, and seeing these benefits, you desire to remarry, in the Name of Jesus, God will open the door for you. And for those who are married, I pray that God will give you the grace to stay married in Jesus Name.
Prayer: Father, breathe upon my marriage, my spouse and I the insight required for this journey, in Jesus Mighty Name. Amen!
