NEVER Late!
Mark 5:22-23 “Then a leader of the local synagogue, whose name was Jairus, arrived. When he saw Jesus, he fell at his feet, pleading fervently with him. “My little daughter is dying,” he said. “Please come and lay your hands on her; …so she can live.” (emphasis added).
Jairus knew something that we must all learn, and it is the fact that no matter who you are, you must humble yourself under the mighty hand of God and He will lift you up (1 Peter 5:6). Thank God you are a big girl or a big boy. But when you are in God’s presence, you are a small boy or a small girl. You cannot come to God and be cute. Jairus was a big man, a leader in the local synagogue. But the Bible says he fell at Jesus feet pleading fervently. However, while Jesus was going to Jairus’ house, something happened. There was another woman who did not have the clout to bring Jesus to her house. So, she snuck up behind Him and touched Jesus’ hem.
Immediately, virtue went out of Jesus and Jesus stopped. He started asking people, “Who touched Me?” Time was passing but finally, the lady showed up. I can imagine Jairus panting and whispering, “This woman should carry her trouble and just go!” Mark 5:35 “While he was still speaking to her, messengers arrived from the home of Jairus, the leader of the synagogue. They told him, “Your daughter is dead. There’s no use troubling the Teacher now.” How did Jairus feel? Imagine Jairus’ emotions towards that woman. What would you feel towards that kind of woman? Two words, “Village people”. You would be upset. I mean I would be upset. It is a natural thing to do. Can’t you just let Jesus come to my house? But Jesus intervened.
Thank God for Jesus because the hand of God is never late. Mark 5:41-42 “Holding her hand, he said to her, “Talitha koum,” which means “Little girl, get up!” And the girl, who was twelve years old, immediately stood up and walked around! They were overwhelmed and totally amazed.” (emphasis added). Even though the hand of the girl was dead, the hand of God was not late. Even though the situation was dead in the physical, the hand of God is never late. God will hold your hand and everything in you that ought to be up will get up in the Name of Jesus. You will be overwhelmed because God will totally amaze you in the Name of Jesus.
Even when some things appear delayed, the hand of God is never late. The hand of God comes into a situation and reverses it completely. The Bible says Jesus was holding her hand. A simple equation there is, God touching you equals you touching God. And if A equals B, of necessity, B equals A. So, you touching God also equals to God touching you. That was what the woman with the issue of blood knew. I may not be able to get Him to touch me, but if I touch Him, He has touched me! As you touch God with your worship today, God will touch you right back.
Prayer (song): Touch me with Your Hand, Jesus. Touch me with Your Hand, Jesus… Amen!
