Habitation
Genesis 18:3-5 “He said, “Master, if it please you, stop for a while with your servant. I’ll get some water so you can wash your feet. Rest under this tree. I’ll get some food to refresh you on your way, since your travels have brought you across my path.” They said, “Certainly. Go ahead.” (MSG)
The first implication of “tent” and the enlargement thereof is the Cumulative Increase Of Influence. The second implication is the Expansion Of God’s Kingdom. The third implication is that “Tent” Speaks Of Covering And Love. “Tent” from God’s perspective speaks of covering and love. The tent covers from environmental forces and protects from wild animals. To enlarge the place of your tent means expand your covering of love and protection for people. For example, if you are paying the school fees of one person, trust God that you will be able to pay the school fees of ten people (10x). If you are not paying anybody’s school fees, trust God that you will, that your covering will expand.
Allowing someone into your “tent” symbolizes an extension of covering, hospitality, and refuge. Trust God to enlarge your covering, hospitality, and refuge. Some people are only focused on themselves, spouse, and family. And they do not care about anyone or anything else. For such people their motto is, get all I can, eat all I can, store all we can, and I sit on the can. That is not the mindset of enlargement. God wants you to enlarge your covering. And guess what? God’s covering over you will also enlarge and expand in the Name of Jesus.
Psalm 27:5 “For in the time of trouble He shall hide me in His pavilion; In the secret place of His tabernacle He shall hide me; He shall set me high upon a rock.” (NKJV). God will hide you in His pavilion in the Name of Jesus. The word tabernacle in this scripture is tent. In the Name of Jesus, in the time of trouble, God will hide you in the secret of His tent. Through covenants, we can enter God’s “tent” and receive His covering and love. The first covenant that ushers us in is the covenant of the Blood of Jesus. Other covenants can come into play as you walk with God.
The fourth implication of “tent” and the enlargement thereof is “Tent” Speaks Of The Temporary Nature Of Our Habitation. Tent dwellers had a consciousness of the temporary nature of their habitation. No matter how wide your influence is, no matter how great God has blessed you, God wants you to understand that you are a “tent” dweller. Your habitation here is temporary. Having this understanding actually helps you. If you think you are living in a reinforced mansion, it brings a false sense of security. But God wants you to have the mindset that you are living in a tent. Your habitation here is temporary.
Prayer: Father, I enlarge the place of my tent, I build in addition to the North, South, East, and West. I will not hold back, I stretch as Your heart requires of me, in Jesus Name. Amen!
