Seed And Harvest

Genesis 8:22 “As long as the earth continues, there will always be a time for planting and a time for harvest. There will always be cold and hot, summer and winter, day and night on earth.” (ERV)

The first law of planting is Everything Starts As a Seed. The second is A Seed Has No Power Until It Is Planted. The third law is Some Seeds Should Be Planted Instead Of Eaten. The fourth is Whatever You Plant Is What You Will Harvest. The fifth law of planting is You Are Not The Only One Planting In Your Life. Now this is big. John 4:38I sent you to harvest where you didn’t plant; others had already done the work, and now you will get to gather the harvest.” (emphasis added). Wait a minute. It means that you are reaping things you did not plant both good and bad from those who have gone before you. Your ancestors, parents, family members, people who have influence in your life. Did you know that?

You are reaping what they have sown. The good, the bad, the ugly, the beautiful, you are reaping everything. Is it fair that you are reaping the good ones? Some people get into things, and they just have trouble. It is because they are reaping what their parents have sown. This is why you have to be careful what you are sowing because your children will reap it. You have to be deliberate about the seeds you plant. What we do as parents affects our children and our children’s children. They will benefit from the seeds we are sowing. Your life, your decisions, and the seed you choose to plant are going to affect future generations.

Many of us are enjoying the prayers of our parents. I am definitely enjoying the prayers of my mom and my grandmother. However, we also have to tackle the bad decisions of those who have gone before us and overcome them. Then you have to be deliberate in making sure that your life and your decisions are planting great and generational blessings. Do I get an Amen? You are not the only one planting in your life. Other people are planting in your life. As you are reading this devotional, I am planting seeds of God’s Word in your life and the harvest is going to come.

The sixth law of planting is You Harvest In A Different Season Than You Plant. That is what makes it tricky. Sometimes we plant in a season, and we think we should harvest in the same season. But the truth is you actually harvest in a different season. You plant in the planting season, and you harvest in the harvest season. There was a king in Israel who was told that the decisions he was making would affect his children. But he did not mind, as long as he would not be alive when it happened. Are you that kind of a person?

Prayer: Father, empower me to confront negative seeds that have been planted in my life and to be deliberate about the seeds I am planting for future generations, in Jesus Name. Amen!
