Evaluate & Live

1 Peter 1:21 “Through Christ you have come to trust in God. And you have placed your faith and hope in God because he raised Christ from the dead and gave him great glory.”

To grow in faith, the first thing you need to do is Evaluate The FOUNDATION of Your Faith. The second thing is, Live Your Life TRUSTING God’s Word. People say some things these days that, sometimes I just smile. I smile because it is kind of ignorant. And they say it so confidently, expecting from God what He has not promised. Have you heard the phrase, “What God cannot do does not exist?” That is not totally true. God cannot lie. There are things that God cannot do that exist. God cannot steal. Listen, it is easy to go with a fad and expect from God what God has not promised. But what God expects is that we find what He has promised, and we build our faith on what He has promised.

1 Peter 1:21 Through Christ you have come to trust in God. And because God raised Christ from the dead and gave him great glory, your faith and hope can be placed confidently in God.” (paraphrased). A young man said his family put a lot of money together to send him for a trial to play professional soccer in the UK. He was a pretty good footballer, but after the trial, he was not selected. He said he was upset with God because God let him down. I said, “Why are you expecting from God what He has not promised you?” Today, because of that rejection, this same person has found a career where he is making a lot of money. In fact, he is grateful to God that he was not selected. We often don’t see God’s big-picture plan. So, we get disappointed because we are expecting from Him what He has not promised. We lose sight of the bigger things He has promised us, and the bigger things that are working out in our lives.

It is important not to let your faith be destroyed by something that God has not promised. God has not promised to keep bad things from happening to you. Do you know that? He has only promised to strengthen you through whatever happens to you and to give you victory at the end. That is what He has promised. We often get it twisted. The more you grow in your faith, the more powerful you become spiritually. The more powerful your watering becomes, that is, the words that you speak over your children, and over your destiny. The more you can come into the enlargement that God has for you.

So, Evaluate The FOUNDATION of Your Faith and ensure that it is rooted in Christ. Secondly, Live Your Life TRUSTING God’s Word. If after evaluating, you see that your life is not rooted in Christ right now, cry out to God for salvation and make Jesus Lord of your life.

Prayer: Father, help me anchor my faith on Your promises and live trusting Your Word, in Jesus Mighty Name. Amen!
