Psalms 125:1-2 “Those who trust in the Lord are as unshakable, as unmovable as mighty Mount Zion! Just as the mountains surround Jerusalem, so the Lord’s wraparound presence surrounds his people, protecting them now and forever.” (TPT)
We will pick up today’s devotional from our final thought yesterday. Emotional attachments reinforce mental strongholds. Remember the lady we spoke about yesterday? Sometimes, she calls off her wedding two days to the wedding because of an emotional attachment. No matter the history, there is no need to be sentimental because you want to move forward. And you will move forward in the Name of Jesus. You cannot be emotionally attached. Emotions are so strong, that once a person is emotionally attached, the person can self-destruct. Why? It is because the person cannot move past it. The emotions become their reality instead of what God says.
Spiritually, however, developing an emotional attachment to God keeps you committed to God in good times and in bad times. Beautiful! Being emotionally committed to God keeps you going. When God gives you abundance, you do not start to behave like a rascal because of money. When God makes your business prosper, you don’t start saying that you do not really have time for God anymore. Why? Because you are emotionally attached to God. When you have challenges or troubles, it does not make you question God. You do not start to doubt God’s ability to answer prayers. Why? Because you are emotionally attached to God. It does not matter what changes or what doesn’t change. That is where the emotional attachment should be, to God.
Psalm 137:5-6 “If I forget you, Jerusalem, may my right hand forget its skill. May my tongue cling to the roof of my mouth if I do not remember you, if I do not consider Jerusalem my highest joy.” (NIV). These people were in captivity, but they were emotionally attached to God. The Psalmist was saying in essence that he cannot forget his God. These are the positive strongholds that keep your life balanced. Your love for God gives birth to your trust in God because you can only trust someone you love. You cannot love someone you do not trust. And that trust becomes fortification.
Psalm 125:1-2 “Those who trust in the Lord are as secure as Mount Zion; they will not be defeated but will endure forever. Just as the mountains surround Jerusalem, so the Lord surrounds his people, both now and forever.” They that trust in the Lord shall be like Mount Zion, fortified, a defenced city that cannot be moved, that cannot be overcome. That will be the story of your life. The question is where is your trust? Put your trust in God and God alone.
Prayer: Father, I put all my trust in You and You alone, in Jesus Mighty Name. Amen!
