Three Lessons

Genesis 26:22 “Abandoning that one, Isaac moved on and dug another well. This time there was no dispute over it, so Isaac named the place Rehoboth (which means “open space”), for he said, “At last the Lord has created enough space for us to prosper in this land.”

The first lesson from Isaac’s story is Don’t Strive. The second lesson is Stand On The Shoulders of Giants. People have preached the gospel before we were born. It would be foolish to want to start from… there is no need to start from where Paul started. There is no need to start from where Apostle Babalola started from. There is no need to start from where Pastor Adeboye started from. There is no need to start from where Pastor Kumuyi started from. There is no need. We stand on their shoulders. They are the ones carrying us up. And our children will stand on our own shoulders in the Name of Jesus (Say Amen).

The third lesson from Isaac is that The Wells of Your Fathers Are Not Sufficient To Sustain Your Glorious Destiny. As great as Abraham was, Isaac was greater. As great as your father is, you will be greater. As great as you will be, your children will be greater still in the Name of Jesus. You are going to see the mistakes and errors that they made. You are to avoid the errors and mistakes they made. I have seen it happen many times, fathers trying to force their children to walk in their shoes and to do what they say. It is a pathetic thing. He is a grown man, she is a grown woman, and you are insisting they do what you say? That is witchcraft. The only creature that never wants to let go of their young are human beings.

Check every other creature. The lion, after a while, the father will fight the son and force him out to start his own pride. You have to let go! Let go because therein lies your freedom and your own peace of mind, and this applies both ways. You have to realize that the wells that your fathers have dug are not sufficient to sustain the glorious destiny God has for you. You have to seek and find God for yourself. Your grandmother prayed for you, praise God. Your grandmother taught you how to pray, and praise God. Heaven wants to hear your own voice now. This is a huge, huge lesson. You can only become greater when you launch from what you have been invested in. You cannot be greater if you start afresh.

Isaac was enlarged. David was enlarged. Joseph was enlarged. Our fourth Bible story is in the story of five ladies. These five ladies are the daughters of one man. The man was with Moses in the wilderness, but he was in that generation that died in the wilderness. They are known as the daughters of Zelophehad. Their story is in Numbers 27:1-11, please read it.

Prayer: Father, I receive the strength to walk away from strife, to stand on the shoulders of giants before and to dig my own wells, in the Mighty Name of Jesus. Amen!
