Anyone
John 5:3-4 “Crowds of sick folks—lame, blind, or with paralyzed limbs—lay on the platforms (waiting for a certain movement of the water, for an angel of the Lord came from time to time and disturbed the water, and the first person to step down into it afterwards was healed)” (LB)
Imagine if the only condition was the pool getting full. Anyone who is able to get in before the pool is full will be healed of whatever disease they have. Then the pool is emptied of healed people, and those who could not get in have to wait for the next stirring of the water. The news of the place would have spread abroad, and people would be trooping in from other nations to get healed. And this is what we have in the New Testament. Revelation 22:16-17 “I, Jesus, have sent my angel to give you this message for the churches. I am both the source of David and the heir to his throne. I am the bright morning star.” The Spirit and the bride say, “Come.” Let anyone who hears this say, “Come.” Let anyone who is thirsty come. Let anyone who desires drink freely from the water of life.” (emphasis added). For us it is anyone.
So, the question is if that pool was present in our day will there still be people there? The answer is unfortunately there will still be people there who will not get into the pool because of unbelief. There will still be people who will not even leave their houses because of unbelief. Imagine the power available to us today because of the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross of Calvary. Profound! John 5:5-6 “One of the men lying there had been sick for thirty-eight years. When Jesus saw him and knew he had been ill for a long time, he asked him, “Would you like to get well?” Grace everywhere! Jesus still came to him personally even though He sent angels periodically to stir the pool. Jesus still came to ask him, “Do you want to get well?” Why him?
Out of everyone lying there by the pool, why this man? Grace will visit you in the Name of Jesus. Jesus will visit you and when He does, people will ask, why you? What is so special about him or her? If people have not begun to ask, “Why you” yet, it means you have not seen “real grace”. When grace enters your life, even the people you think are yours, people you think are committed to you will ask why you. God’s grace will seek you out and distinguish you dramatically in the Name of Jesus. Jesus must have gone past and over a lot of people who were lying down there immobile to get to this man. That is what grace does.
In your life grace will be everywhere in Jesus Name. God is asking you today, would you like to get well? Are you struggling with anxiety or depression, or is it your mental health, physical health, financial health, or relationships? God is asking, would you like to get well?
Prayer (song): Heal me, oh Lord, and I will be healed. Save me and I will be saved. Heal me, oh Lord, and I will be healed. For You are the one I praise, You are the one I praise. Amen!
