Spoiler Alert!

Joshua 10:12-13 “…Joshua prayed to the Lord in front of all the people of Israel. He said, “Let the sun stand still over Gibeon, and the moon over the valley of Aijalon.” So, the sun stood still and the moon stayed in place until the nation of Israel had defeated its enemies…”

I know that folks talk a lot about commanding the day, and the scripture Job 38:12-13 is what is used as the scriptural backing. However, I don’t think that is what that scripture is really saying. This may be a spoiler for some people, but the Word of God is the Word of God. Job 38:12-13 “Have you commanded the morning since your days began, and caused the dawn to know its place, that it might take hold of the ends of the earth, and the wicked be shaken out of it?” (NKJV). So, people have misinterpreted this to mean you have to wake up in the morning, before the day, and command your day so that it will take its place and shake the wicked out of it for you.

The question is, what about the days you forget or the days you slept off, who commanded that day? That is not what God is saying. Therefore, to understand what God is saying in this passage, you need to back up to the top. Job had been asking questions, and God was silent. Then, finally, God decided to respond. Job 38:1-4 Then the Lord answered Job from the whirlwind: “Who is this that questions my wisdom with such ignorant words? Brace yourself like a man, because I have some questions for you, and you must answer them. “Where were you when I laid the foundations of the earth? Tell me, if you know so much.” Was God saying Job should go and lay the foundations of the earth? No. He is asking, Were you there?

It is just like a man asking his son, “When I met and married your mother, were you there?” Job 38:5-10 Who determined its dimensions and stretched out the surveying line? What supports its foundations, and who laid its cornerstone as the morning stars sang together and all the angels shouted for joy? “Who kept the sea inside its boundaries as it burst from the womb, and as I clothed it with clouds and wrapped it in thick darkness? For I locked it behind barred gates, limiting its shores.” God was asking Job if he knew these things? You are questioning My wisdom, what do you know? Job 38:11I said, ‘This far and no farther will you come. Here your proud waves must stop!’” No wonder Jesus just walked on the waves and the storms like that.

Job 38:12-13Have you ever commanded the morning to appear and caused the dawn to rise in the East? Have you made daylight spread to the ends of the earth, to bring an end to the night’s wickedness?” God was challenging Job’s ignorance. It is not an assignment for us to command the morning. I am sorry I did not write the Bible. But that is what it says. So, the best you can do if you insist on doing it is to say, I align with God who commands the day, and I decree XYZ.

Prayer: Father, I align with You who formed the earth, and I declare that my day is fruitful, the gates and the doors of this day open to me easily for good, in the Name of Jesus. Amen!
