Face To Face IV
‘Don’t store up treasures here on earth… Store your treasures in Heaven… Wherever your treasure is, there the desires of your heart will also be’
How have I been greedy and how can I be generous? We must get rid of the ‘get all you can and can all you get mentality’. You cannot have things in your wardrobe that are gathering dust when there are people who need those things. If you have cloths that you have to be reminded about, then the truth is that you do not really need those cloths. ‘…Zacchaeus stood before the Lord and said, “I will give half my wealth to the poor…’ Luke 19:8. In other words, whereas he had been greedy but now he will restitute by being generous. Whom have I dishonored and how can I re-honour them? We are living in a culture where honour is being eroded very quickly. As a wife it is wrong to dishonor people in your husband’s family. The fact that it is your house is not grounds enough for you to go against God’s Word. Guess what, you would be dishonoring God too. If you have you should ask yourself, how you can re-honour them. In the Kingdom, God is clear on the importance of honour [Ex.20:12]. Honour your parents in the Lord, spiritual leaders, and house fellowship leaders. Honour them so that it will be well with you. Interestingly people disagree with their parents and then seek to dishonor them. You can disagree with your parents and not dishonor them. If you want to live a long and full life, perhaps you need to go back and re-honour those you have dishonored. How have I rewarded good with evil and how can I put things right? This is a dangerous thing to do because the Bible says ‘he that rewards good with evil, evil will not depart from his house. Every visitor he gets will be evil’ [Prov. 17:13]. You need to put things right with those whose good deeds you have rewarded with evil because of your insecurity. Let these questions act as searchlights into your heart and your soul. Not searchlights of condemnation or judgment but rather searchlights to propel you to respond as Zacchaeus did. The right response is restitution. Go to God and ask Him how you can set things right. He probably has already started showing you what you must do and whom you must confess to.
Prayer: Lord, I commit to putting things right even as You lead me to the things I must restitute. To re-honor those who I have dishonored. Restore me to right standing with You, in Jesus Name
