Self-dependency!
Yes, He humbled you by letting you go hungry and then feeding you with manna, a food previously unknown to you and your ancestors. He did it to teach you that people do not live by bread alone; rather, we live by every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord. Deut.8:3
Humble yourself so that God would not have to humble you. Self-dependency can be the greatest undoing of any child of God. If you can afford it or you can do it on your own then why do you need God? Because God loves you dearly, He will probably take you through a wilderness situation like the children of Israel. So that He can help rid you of self-dependency. Have you come across a Christian who used to have it all together, and then pride sent in. Next thing you know, he has to rely on God for every single thing, even for his daily meal. Most of the time, this is a trial of faith situation, to propel you to total dependence on the Word of God. You are going through the wilderness to learn a principal lesson that man does not leave by bread alone. And to teach you that God’s word is more to be desired than necessary food. Bread here means your provision and skills. It was God’s mercy that made it possible for you to acquire the skill in the first place. God wants you and me to know that without the Word of God, we are in trouble. Take reading your bible for example; do you approach the Word as though you are eating? You must begin to relish it. God is saying that until we learn to treat His Word like that, we have not learnt the lesson yet. The only way out of the wilderness is the Word, which is light and life to men.
Prayer: Father, I esteem Your Word more than my necessary food. My life depends on You. I can do nothing without You. You are my sufficiency, in Jesus Name

it is amazing how we do not go to God first instead we struggle to get things on our own and then when we hit barriers we go to God. i am also guilty of this. Let us learn to go to God first and then let Him work through you. Father teach me, teach us to seek You first daily, in Jesus Name.
This text is invaluable. How can I find out more?
