Protecting Your Future

‘Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up…’ Heb.12:1

Un-repented sin is the surest weapon for destiny destruction. Repentance however, protects your glorious future from your horrible past. You cannot be free from a sin you are not willing to repent of. You can acknowledge that you want to head south. Yet if your mind change does not end up in a directional change you will still end up north. This is the reason for a lot of unbroken addictions that remain in the lives of Christians. Some are addicted to pornography, some are addicted to lust. It is simply because you are unwilling to repent. I pray that you will repent today in the Name of Jesus. God wants us to get rid of this baggage. ‘Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before usHeb.12:1. God is saying we must strip off the baggage of the un-repented sins that easily beset us. The enemy will try to deceive you into thinking that sin runs in your family or is a family heritage. It is a lie, don’t own it; you can drop the baggage. People find it difficult to repent for a number of reasons. The first reason is ignorance. A lot of people are unaware of the baggage of un-repented sin they are carrying. We need to pray that God will deliver us from the baggage of presumptuous sin. The fact that you are oblivious of the sin does not change the fact that you are carrying it. For some, it is ignorance in their approach toward getting rid of this baggage. The story is told of a man who was fasting for 21days. He was on day 15 of no food no water fast when a believer asked him what was going on because he was almost dying. It was then that he revealed that a prophet had told him it was the only way to obtain forgiveness for his sins and the sins of his fathers. This is a classic example of ignorance. ‘If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness’.

Prayer: Father, I ask for the wisdom and understanding to deal with every baggage of un-repented sin in my life. Rid me of ignorance by Your Spirit, in Jesus Name.
