Transition I
‘There’s an opportune time to do things, a right time for everything on the earth’ Ecc.3:1 [MSG].
The dictionary defines transition as a passage; a change from one position, one state, a stage or a concept to another. Transition is like a channel that leads you from ‘point A’ to ‘point B’. In Ecclesiastes 3:1-8, the Bible talks about seasons and that everything is not in a fixed state. God made different seasons. There are seasons in our lives and there are physical seasons in nature. Every season represents change. We transition in our lives from one season to another. It is important to know how to transition from one season to another so that you do not become like a relic. Many times in our life changes happen but it is important to know that change is different from transition. A change is instant. With marriage for example, it involves two single people coming together before a Minister of God. In less than five minutes, he makes some pronouncements and they are married, they become one. Two separate people becoming one is change. But marriage is a transition; it is a passage, it is a journey. Being married in a day does not automatically translate to knowing all there is to know about marriage. They both must learn about living together, serving each other, and how to be in a marriage. If one or both of them do not transition properly from being single – used to doing their own thing, having their own name, and having their own lifestyle. To being one with another, they can wreck their marriage. But we will not wreck our marriages because we will transition successfully in Jesus Name. Another example is child birth; a woman is pregnant for 9 months and in the space of 2 mins the baby comes out and there is a new life. That is a change and it is instant. But parenthood is a transition. The first sight of the baby does not make you become a perfect parent. You learn and you transition in parenthood. And if people do not transition properly in parenthood, they can mess up the destiny of that child. That is why transition is very important. Life becomes problematic when we fail to transition from one state to another.
Prayer: Lord, help me transition properly and according to Your plan through the season in my life, in Jesus Name
