The End, The Beginning
‘These are all warning markers—danger!—in our history books, written down so that we don’t repeat their mistakes. Our positions in the story are parallel—they at the beginning, we at the end—and we are just as capable of messing it up as they were’ 1 Cor.10:11 [MSG]
There are three phases of transition. The first is the end, the beginning. Transition always starts with an end. You put an end to something, and then something new begins. God put an end to the slavery of the children of Israel and their freedom begun. The end of their slavery in Egypt was the beginning of their transition. Many of us don’t or have not realized that where God has taken us from is an end that is why we keep looking back. If you see it as a closed door, then transitioning will be a lot easier. You married and you cannot separate. You have moved into university and you cannot drop out. You are walking with God and you cannot afford to backslide because you have to make it to heaven. If you have chosen heaven as your destination, then work out your salvation to heaven. When you see it as closed door and there is no going back, then it helps you transition properly. But once you do not see it as an end, then there will be problems with transition. Transition never goes back, it only goes forward. Even though God had delivered the children of Israel from Egypt, yet they did not view Egypt as a closed door. While they were walking with God they still saw Egypt as a good thing. The Bible says ‘two cannot walk together except they agree’. ‘Light and darkness cannot stay together’. If you still see things that are not approved as acceptable then you most likely will run into problems. If you still see adultery as a man’s thing then you will run into problems. The Bible says ‘shall a man take fire into his bosom and not get burnt?’ ‘The same thing could happen to us. We must be on guard so that we never get caught up in wanting our own way as they did’ 1 Cor.10:6 [MSG]. The advantage we have is that we have them as an example, so we can learn from their mistakes. Transition always starts with an end. It ends and that is the beginning. If you look at it like that, it will be easier for you to enter into the next phase.
Prayer: Lord, help me learn from the mistakes of those who have gone before me how not to behave and what attitude pleases You, in Jesus Name.
