Ingathering: Harvest

‘(When He said “living water,” He was speaking of the Spirit, who would be given to everyone believing in Him. But the Spirit had not yet been given, because Jesus had not yet entered into His glory.) John7:39

Still dealing with the first significance of ingathering which is harvest. Harvest also means the gathering of every spiritual principle and gift that God has given to us from the beginning of this year up until now. For some of us God has taught us a lot of spiritual lessons. We have fought some battles and we have learnt some awesome things. Ingathering means we are to gather all those lessons and ruminate on them. Don’t lose it or lose them. For some of us, we started the year being hot tempered but now we know how to exhibit patience and long suffering. For some of us learning a lesson in love has made it possible for us to share Jesus with our friends and neighbors. It is a fruit of the Spirit; it is part of your spiritual harvest  for the year. Don’t lose it or lose them. Harvest in ingathering also means the bringing in of souls. Simply put it means the harvesting of souls into the Kingdom of God. Jesus said, ‘Anyone who believes in me may come and drink! For the Scriptures declare, ‘Rivers of living water will flow from his heart’. The Bible says He was speaking of the Holy Spirit and He was speaking of the release of the Holy Spirit which had not happened. It happened at Pentecost [Acts 2:1-4], the Bible says when the day of Pentecost was fully come the Holy Spirit was released. Not too long after the release of the Spirit, 3000 people came to Christ. That is ingathering. We are trusting God that everyone that is yet to be saved in our lives will be brought to Christ through us this season.  We need to ask God to use us as the sickle to bring them into the Kingdom of Heaven. God is going to rely on us to share the gospel this season and cause there to be an ingathering of souls in our spheres of influence. What an awesome responsibility. There are souls that God has determined to save this year and they are linked to us. An angel is not going to do the harvesting; we are responsible for the harvesting of those souls.

Prayer: Father, help me to always remember the spiritual lessons that You have taught me. And to use those lessons as part of my testimony in winning souls into the Kingdom, in Jesus Name.
