Personally Secure
Let your roots grow down into him, and let your lives be built on him. Then your faith will grow strong in the truth you were taught, and you will overflow with thankfulness’ Col.2:7
Jesus is the head of all principalities and powers and we are complete in Him. Growing personal roots simply means to be personally secure in yourself. People who lack personal roots have a lot of visible insecurities. Such people see everyone around them as threats. They see their spouses, children, colleagues, and even their parents as threats. People who lack personal roots usually require something else to define their identity, such as designer clothing, bags, or jewelry. If they are not in the ‘in-crowd’, they do not feel complete. They do not feel confident to speak amongst other people because the car they drive is beaten up. If this is what defines your identity, then you lack personal roots. Some people would refuse to go to church because they have been wearing the same shoe for three weeks and people will notice. Who cares about the shoe you are wearing? That is a sign that you lack personal roots. People who lack personal roots are easily oppressed by anything or anyone. If you see something that someone else has and you feel oppressed, you lack personal roots. If you feel that you must project something that you have to command respect, you lack personal roots. If you are overtly fearful, you lack personal roots. I am praying that you will get these roots today in Jesus Name. People that are overtly concerned if people will approve of the things they do lack personal roots. Such people also have what is called the approval addiction syndrome. You are getting dressed and all that is running through your mind is if your colleague at work will like what you are wearing. What is their business with what you are wearing? God wants you to be rooted and not be flakey. ‘For in Christ lives all the fullness of God in a human body. So you also are complete through your union with Christ, who is the head over every ruler and authority’Col.2:9-10. Personal security only comes from knowing Jesus and being in His presence. I am praying today that you will grow personal roots in Jesus Name.
Prayer: Thank You Father for making me complete through my union with Christ Jesus. Help me walk in the fullness of this union in Jesus Name
