Established in Righteousness II
‘A man shall not be established by wickedness: but the root of the righteous shall not be moved’ Prov.12:3 [KJV].
As a pastor, I can enter a house and discern the spiritual climate of that house [it is one of the perks of being a pastor]. I visited a family and I could tell that the mother was dancing to the tune of the child because she wanted to win the heart of the child and be known as the good parent, while the father is perceived as the bad parent. Something is definitely wrong with that. It is such situations that you hear children say things like ‘mummy is my friend but daddy is not’. It is wickedness because you are destroying that child and ‘a man shall not be established by wickedness’. It is wickedness for you to play to the gallery and get people to rely on you for stuff. It is hypocrisy; it is wickedness. Jesus could deal with adulterers, demon possessed people, but Jesus cannot stand hypocrites. Jesus said to hypocrites ‘woe unto you; cursed are you’. I mean that is a very strong statement. Jesus said to the woman that was caught in adultery ‘go and sin no more, your sins are forgiven you’ right? Jesus could handle a lady that had 12 demons [Mary Magdalene], ‘he that is forgiven much loved much’. Out of gratitude she kissed Jesus’ feet and wiped His feet with her hair. Jesus could handle different kinds of strange people but He could not handle hypocrites. For us to grow personal roots, we must be established in righteousness. ‘Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in His law doth he meditate day and night. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper. The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away’ Ps.1:1-4[KJV]. In other words, they have no roots. The person that is rooted in righteousness will not stand in the company of sinners. He will not see him/her with scorn; his heart will be with God.
Prayer [song]: Father, I ask that every root of wickedness in me be uprooted. Lord firmly establish me in Your righteousness, in Jesus Name.
