Understanding Favour: Response 2

He was the one who prayed to the God of Israel, “Oh, that you would bless me and expand my territory! Please be with me in all that I do, and keep me from all trouble and pain!” And God granted him his request. 1Chro.4:10

Remember, God is always watching your responses. If, and I dare say when you respond properly, God will promote you. The fact that you did not start favoured does not mean that you should die u n-favoured. It will be your turn soon or even now if you will receive it. Jabez started out without favour; in fact his mother named him pain. He could have accepted it as his lot in life and die like many others without favour. However, Jabez recognized that God is the Source of all that is seen and unseen. There is a God in Heaven that can change the destiny of any man. So Jabez called on the God of Heaven; Jabez cried out to the God of Israel for blessings, enlargement and protection. In other words, Jabez was asking God for a total turn around and for divine favour. And God turned his story around. I have prayed this prayer for years and I am not about to stop now. I want to challenge you to take this prayer and cry out to God. God is not a respecter of persons, all our destinies lie in His hand and He reserves the right to favour anyone in His righteousness Rom.2:11, Acts 10:34-35. ‘You will be accepted if you do what is right. But if you refuse to do what is right, then watch out! Sin is crouching at the door, eager to control you. But you must subdue it and be its masterGen.4:7. God said to Cain, Abel and his offerings were favoured. You, Cain, would have been accepted and favoured too if you had done the right thing. There are things to do to attract favour from Heaven. One sure way is to cry out to God as Jabez did and He will show you what else you need to do to attract divine favour.

Prayer: Lord, that You would bless me and expand my territory! Please be with me in all that I do, and keep me from all trouble and pain, in Jesus Name.

  1. Abel gave his best offering and it was accepted by God,as a child of God we should be able to give our time, energy and our money as a sacrifice to God.

  2. The first and the best! Don’t just love God with your words, love Him with your actions too! Abel is definitely an example to follow. Making God priority is the best thing that can happen to any man. What else is worth our time anyways?
