Provoking Blessings

‘May many nations become your servants, and may they bow down to you. May you be the master over your brothers, and may your mother’s sons bow down to you. All who curse you will be cursed, and all who bless you will be blessed’ Gen.27:29

Let me tell you a story about a pastor friend. He was very anointed but he was broke. It is a terrible thing to be anointed and broke, it is a frustrating thing. A lot of us think prayer alone attracts wealth. You can pray from now till tomorrow, if you don’t sow a seed you can’t reap a harvest. So the guy was very anointed but he was hungry. One day a lady offers to take him to lunch and his soul was satisfied. He said to me that prophecy began to flow from him for the lady, specific words of prophecy. I can’t judge him but when I heard this I was concerned about it being carnal. Yet if you look at the Bible, Isaac wanting to bless Esau requested for him to make him a special meal so that his soul will bless Esau. Isaac was saying in essence ‘I know it is your right but I want you to provoke it so that it can be irreversible’. Sadly Jacob supplanted Esau and got the blessings. Isaac had blessed Jacob out of the abundance of his soul and there was none reserved for Esau. Isaac said ‘it is too late, I have made him your lord’. That will not be our portion in the Name of Jesus. I guess my pastor friend is not carnal after all. However, I must say that it is also good to be able to bless whether you are given food or not. Yet I found that it is a natural response for you to bless after someone has provoked it. If your parents are still alive, I dare you to try this. Send them money and ask for nothing in return. Guess what they will do? They will begin to pray blessings over you. I once met someone at the supermarket, exchanged casual greetings and went about my business. We met again at the point of payment where I was busy checking my wallet because I was sure that I had picked more items than I could pay at that time. And the person said to me that my goods had been paid for. I left that store praying for that person. Don’t judge me, I am just trying to show you that it is a natural response. The bottom line is this; you can provoke a blessing from God. Learn from examples in the Bible.

Thought: Thoughtfully and selflessly do something special for God today!

Prayer:  Lord, let Your irrevocable blessing rest on me and my generation, in Jesus Name.
