Un-communicated Demands I
‘Go and live in the village of Zarephath, near the city of Sidon. I have instructed a widow there to feed you’ 1Kings 17:9
Sometimes God does what I choose to call un-communicated demands of heaven. Take note because in your walk with God you will encounter this. There are certain things that heaven is demanding for from you now that heaven has not even communicated to you. In other words, you are totally unaware of these things. In my walk with God, I keep checking for the things that God requires of me and I have not even discerned that God requires them of me? In 1 Kings 17:1-16, God said to Elijah the brook Cherith has dried up, leave Cherith and go to Zarephath, I have commanded a widow to sustain thee. Elijah got to Zarephath and saw the widow. The Holy Ghost must have confirmed in his heart who the widow was. But she had no clue that God had instructed her to sustain a man of God. Not only did she have no clue, as far as she was concerned she had no resources. Yet that did not change the fact that God had instructed her or nullify heavens un-communicated demands. Some of us have mandates that we have no clue about. In fact when Elijah got there, the widow was trying to make her last meal so that she will eat it with her son and die because there was no provision coming from anywhere else. And Elijah asked her to make his own meal first because he understood the principle of ‘what do you have in your hands’. This again was an ‘unreasonable demand’ just like the one that was placed on the little boy and his lunch. There had been famine in the land and everyone else had been starving. Here comes this prophet looking obviously robust and well fed asking this poor widow for her last meal. By all standards Elijah must have been looking more robust than the widow because God had been feeding him. Yet God’s Word to her then and for us today is ‘For thus saith the Lord God of Israel, the barrel of meal shall not waste, neither shall the cruse of oil fail, until the day that the Lord sendeth rain upon the earth’ 1Kings 17:14[KJV]. What are the un-communicated demands of heaven upon what you perceive to be your last meal?
Thought: What has God been asking you for that you considered unreasonable?
Prayer [song]: ‘Lord prepare me, to be a sanctuary. Pure and holy, tried and true. With thanksgiving, I’d be a living sanctuary for You’.
