Dare To Dream

Gen.11:^4&6 “…Come, let’s build a great city for ourselves with a tower that reaches into the sky. This will make us famous…. And the Lord said … and this is only the beginning of what they will do, and now nothing they have imagined they can do will be impossible for them. (AMPC)

Dreaming is so important because when you stop dreaming, you stop living. When you stop dreaming, the zest of your life goes. The enemy tries to convince people that there is no point, no need to dream. The enemy tries to convince people that to dream is to set themselves up for heartbreak and disappointment. The enemy will even tell you that there is no point counting the stars, just manage what you have. So, you mean you are really going to go out and count the stars like a fool because Pastor said you should? The enemy will try to talk you out of dreaming because if he can talk you out of dreaming, he has successfully talked you out of a brilliant future. You need to start dreaming again and ensure that your dreams are not small.

There are two major things about dreams that you need to pay attention to. The first is to dream is free, it does not cost you anything to dream. Everybody can afford to dream. You cannot say you do not have a dream because it is too expensive. No, you can afford to dream, it costs nothing to dream, absolutely nothing. Secondly, everything thing that is now possible was at one time impossible. Everything! Everything today that is possible, was once impossible. From the chairs that we sit on, to the cars that we drive. There was a time it was impossible for man to drive, to go at a certain speed. In fact, some people said that if mangoes faster than the speed of a horse, his intestine will come out. They were theorizing their failures. But today, you cannot even imagine living life without engaging a car. It was once impossible to fly.

Everything that is now possible today was once impossible. What does that tell you? The things in your life that you think are impossible today, will become possible tomorrow. They will become possible tomorrow if only you can dream it. You are where you are today because of what you saw yesterday. You will be where you will be tomorrow because of what you are seeing today. So, if what you are seeing today is scary, then you need to change it. You need to begin to dream big. One of the lies the enemy says to believers is, be content, you have done a good job and you have lived a good life. Rejoice and manage your life until death. But not Caleb; Caleb was eighty-five and he said to Joshua, give me this mountain (Joshua 14:12). In other words, I still have dreams to fulfil and territories to take.

Remember the rich fool? God has blessed his land and it was prosperous. And he said, what is the point of dreaming, what is the point of worrying about the next harvest? Such people hide under the cloak of contentment. He said to himself, relax, enjoy, you are good. But God said to him, you are a fool, your life will begin to live you from tonight (Luke 12:16-21, please read). So, life leaves when dreams leave. Life comes to an end when dreaming comes to an end.

Prayer: Father, pour out Your Spirit upon me afresh and cause me to dream, to imagine, to catch a vision of that which You in the depth of Your heart, in Jesus Name. Amen!
