Holy Matrimony III

‘Defraud ye not one the other, except it be with consent for a time, that ye may give yourselves to fasting and prayer; and come together again, that Satan tempt you not for your incontinency’ 1 Cor.7:5 [KJV]

The Word of God says, ‘one shall chase a thousand and two shall chase ten thousand’ and this is one of the reasons why the enemy is waging a deliberate war against marriages. We ought to realize that marriage is an earthly gift from God. The Bible clearly states that there is no marriage in heaven. So be determined to make the best of it. Resolve that your spouse will get the best loving from you. One key area the devil uses to put pressure on marriages is in the area of sexual intimacy. The husband is either flooded with too many distractions to even see his wife. Or the wife is overwhelmed by the feeling of not being wanted and constantly lashes out at the husband in an attempt to make him feel some of the pain she is feeling. For some, the husband/wife is so consumed with extra marital affairs that they completely fail to fulfill their wife/husband’s sexual needs. Women are complaining bitterly about rejection from their husbands. Some women even go as far as initiating sexual intimacy, some have to plead with their husbands but still get turned down. Women will tell you that it takes a lot of effort for a woman to initiate sex and as such they are often frustrated when they are turned down.

If this is happening in your marriage then it is a pointer to a deep-rooted problem. Sometimes it could be something the woman did earlier on in the marriage that is making the man detest his wife. And as such he either cannot stand to be close to her or is using this as a way of punishing her. The answer is to confront it so please don’t give up. I know it is not easy for a lady to run after the man. This is a call to everyone to value what you have especially your spouse. Whether it’s a car, or a pair of shoes, or a suit, or a shirt, anything that you have that you don’t respect and value, you will eventually lose it. This is a principle of life. There is no excuse for neglecting your husband/wife. Again I recommend focused counseling for these issues and a conscious effort to submit totally to the Holy Spirit.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, heal my heart of past and present hurt; heal my spouses’ heart of past and present hurt. Lord restore our marriage completely, in Jesus Name.
