1 Corinthians 6:²⁰ “For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.” (NKJV)

Your body is so important that God is going to put it back together. 1 Corinthians 6:¹⁴ “By his power God raised the Lord from the dead, and he will raise us also.” (NIV). Your body will be resurrected, God is going to put your body back together. But upgrade it to a flawless version. So, your body is God’s property. God expects you to manage your body. Your body will be resurrected after you die or when Jesus comes. The next radical thought and this is really huge is, Your Body Is Connected To The Body Of Christ. My body is connected to the body of Christ. When we think of the concept of us being members of the body of Christ, or being connected to the body of Christ, we think of it as a spiritual thing and yes that is correct.

We are spiritually connected from the Spirit’s level. So, we think of it from the invisible part of us that is being connected to the invisible body of Christ. But guess what? The visible part of you, your body is also connected. That is to show you how important your body is. Is this even in the Bible? Yes, it is and I will show it to you. 1 Corinthians 6:¹⁵ “Don’t you realize that your bodies are actually parts of Christ? Should a man take his body, which is part of Christ, and join it to a prostitute? Never!” The New International Version puts it this way, “Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ himself? Shall I then take the members of Christ and unite them with a prostitute? Never!” Our bodies are actually part of Christ. This is really big, and most people never think of it like that. Your body is a part of Christ.

God cares how you treat your body. Why does God care so much about how you treat your body? It is because your body connects to His own body. So, your body connects to His body, and this is the reason why God is interested in how you treat your body. Jesus wants you to understand that you are a part of Him, not just in the spiritual experience. You are a part of Him even in the physical experience. So, when the Word of God says, “…He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities… And by His stripes we are healed.” (NKJV). By His stripes we were healed because our bodies are connected to His body. So, His wounds actually bring healing to us. God wants you to realize these four things are a motivational foundation for seeking to be healthy and staying healthy. Treat your body with respect.

Prayer: Father, my body is God’s property, empower me to manage my body knowing that it is connected to Christ’s body, and it will be resurrected, in the Mighty Name of Jesus. Amen!
