Every Day
Daniel 6:10 “…Daniel …went home and knelt down as usual in his upstairs room, with its windows open toward Jerusalem. He prayed three times a day, just as he had always done, giving thanks to his God.” (emphasis added).
To be strong in spirit and to have spiritual traction, you must develop good habits because you are the sum total of your habits. 1 Timothy 4:7 “Take the time and the trouble to keep yourself spiritually fit.” (Phillips, emphasis added). Take the time and trouble to develop spiritual traction. So, moving on from the three excuses that erode spiritual traction. We are delving into three habits that will give us spiritual traction. The truth is if you do these three things from now until the end of the year, your spiritual life will skyrocket. For each of the habits that give us spiritual traction, we will give The Reason, The Routine, and The Results. It is a habit, so you need to understand the reason for it, and you need to understand what the routine is all about. Then, when you see the results, you can get into the habit easily. Are you ready?
#1: Get Time With God Every Day. Get time with God every single day of your life. People call it different names; some call it Quiet Time. It is a time when it is just you and God. A quiet time for reading your Bible and praying, just staying with God every day. What is the reason? Psalm 25:4 “Show me the path where I should go, O Lord; point out the right road for me to walk.” (LB). In the Name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, God will show you the path that you should go, and He will point out the road that you should walk. Why should I spend time with God every day? The Reason is for guidance, so that I do not grope around in life.
What is the routine? Luke 5:16 “But Jesus often withdrew to lonely places and prayed.” (NIV, emphasis added). The phrase highlighted in this scripture shows that it was a habit. Note that this time is not for your family altar. It is also not the time for a department prayer meeting. This time is not when the church is fasting and praying, it is not the time for a corporate fast. This time is your time with God. For you to have spiritual traction, you must carve out time to spend with your Maker and The Results are huge. John 15:7 “If you remain in me and my words remain in you, then you will ask for anything you wish, and you shall have it.” (GNT, emphasis added). What is that? A blank cheque, a spiritual blank cheque.
That is why some people get into a challenging situation, they pray, and boom! The truth is it is because of these secrets I am giving you. The first habit for spiritual traction is to Get Time With God Every Day, and it begins with carving out time and entails spending time alone with God.
Prayer (song): Oh the glory of Your presence. We, Your temple, give You reverence. Come and rise from Your rest and be blessed by our praise. As we glory in Your embrace… Amen!
