Levels
‘This was their song: “Saul has killed his thousands, and David his ten thousands!”’ 1Sam.18:7
The fourth truth about money is money has levels. Prosperity has levels. The different levels are: the poverty level -every one that is struggling with poverty Jesus will set you free today. The lack level – this is when the person is not poor but is in lack. The comfortable level – the person is not in poverty but the person is not in riches either, they are just comfortable. The problem with being comfortable is that one disaster can send you back to poverty. When the psalmist says give me neither riches nor poverty so that I don’t curse you and I don’t steal it is because at that time that psalmist did not understand these different levels. He only understood two levels – poverty and riches. So he was asking to be in between so that he can be comfortable. Guess what, the destinies of millions of people are tied to you being wealthy. So you have to be wealthy. The wealth is not for you alone. It is when you think about yourself alone that you begin to question how much money does a man need. And then you end up saying to God don’t give me poverty, don’t give me riches. That is selfish. There is a higher-level still called the rich – the problem with a lot of people is that they become rich. In fact that is what the psalmist was trying to voice. He did not want to be like the rich arrogant people that just talk anyhow about God and do not have regard for the things of God. You will always know a rich man. You cannot go to a place and not know a rich man. The way they would talk, dress, and demand that they be addressed in a certain way – that is a rich man’s problem. May you not get stuck being rich, may you go higher. There is a higher level – the wealthy. The wealthy people don’t behave like rich people; in fact you almost won’t know that they exist. They just come to church quietly and sit quietly; no argument. Meanwhile rich people try to control the message that comes from the altar to suit them. That is their problem. That is why Jesus says that it will be easier for a camel to enter into the eye of the needle than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God [Matt.19:23].
Prayer: Lord Jesus, regardless of how much You bless me, help me to remain rich towards You and prioritize the things of God, in Jesus Name.
