Prioritize
Matthew 6:33 “But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness. What you should want most is God’s kingdom and doing what he wants you to do. Then he will give you all these other things you need… all these things will be added to you.” (ERV & ESV)
Do you want God’s blessings in your life? Do you want your life to be free of worry, filled with joy, righteousness, and peace? You need to make the things that are priority to God, His Kingdom, your priority. God is about His Kingdom. So, you need to press your Kingdom reset button. What does God care about? Make it your priority because we only get the highest power when we are doing the greatest tasks. Think about it, would you give resources to someone who is not doing anything for you? You would not. If you are running an organization, you give the best laptops, office space, and official cars to the people who are solving the biggest problems for you.
At age twelve, Jesus could say in Luke 2:49, “I MUST be about my father’s business.” (NKJV, emphasis added). What Jesus was saying, in other words, is that His Father’s business is the priority of His life. No wonder at Gethsemane, Jesus could say in John 17:4, “I brought glory to you on earth. I have finished the work you gave me to do.” (NIV & GN, emphasis added). I pray in the Name of Jesus that by the time you come to the end of your life, you will be able to say to God, I have brought glory to You on Earth. I have finished the work that You gave me to do. I pray you live long if Jesus tarries. I pray you live to a ripe old age, whatever that means to you.
For some people it is seventy-five years, for some people, it is ninety, and for some people it is a hundred and twenty years. Let’s say for you it is a hundred, I pray that when you are a hundred years old, and you know your time has come to go, and you are surrounded by your children, grandchildren, and loved ones, so that you are able to say confidently, “I have brought glory to God on Earth. I have finished the work He gave me to do. Over to you, children, my job here is done! I am out of here.” And you can show up before God and say, “I have brought glory to You on Earth. I have finished the work You gave me to do.” Not the work God gave your cousin, sibling, or another person to do. Many people are doing the work God gave someone else to do because they are trying to be people that God has not created them to be.
It is interesting that people actually want to fashion and live their lives after other people. Have you seen those Michael Jackson wannabes? At best, you will be a good copy but never the original. There is only one M.J., and there is only one you. And I pray that you will be able to say to God, “I have finished the work You gave me to do”.
Prayer (song): Make me Your vessel. Make me an offering. Make me whatever You want me to be. I came here with nothing, but all You have given me. Jesus, bring new wine out of me. Amen!
