On Display I

Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven’ Matt.5:16 [KJV]

When it comes to people seeing the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, there are two main things you need to consider. The first thing is the supernatural and the spiritual side. If the Good News we preach is hidden behind a veil, it is hidden only from people who are perishing. Satan, who is the god of this world, has blinded the minds of those who don’t believe. They are unable to see the glorious light of the Good News. They don’t understand this message about the glory of Christ, who is the exact likeness of God.2Cor.4:3-4. So for every one of those three people you have on your list of people close to you but far from God, God wants you to know today that there is a spiritual dimension. Everyone that is not surrendered to Jesus is because there is a veil – there is a blind folding. This is why we have to consistently pray for these people that the veil will be taken out and the curtain will be torn.

The second dimension that I believe God wants you to understand is the personal dimension. ‘For God, who said, “Let there be light in the darkness,” has made this light shine in our hearts so we could know the glory of God that is seen in the face of Jesus Christ2Cor.4:6. Jesus puts it this way, ‘Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.’Matt.5:16 [KJV]. Whose light has to shine? The task ahead of us is a task for every one of us. Whose decision is it if your light will shine? It is yours. Jesus is saying that we get to choose whether we let our light shine or not. You let your light shine because the stakes are too high not to let your light shine – eternity is in the offing. Let your light shine meaning you can prevent your light from shining. God is saying you have a part to play. You have to let your light shine. Nobody lights a candle and puts it under the bed. You let your light shine so that men can see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven. Therefore, how you treat people around you can determine their eternal destinies. People can look at you and how you behave and either desire God or want nothing to do with God. That will not be your testimony.

Thought: The bulb has to stay connected to the source to produce light [John 15:1].

Prayer: Father, I ask for the grace to stay connected to You and the grace to let my light shine, in Jesus Name.
